Barker College is located on Sydney’s north shore. The School offers a broad-based education across its Prep, Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. In 2016, a Pre-Kindergarten program for 4 year old children commenced within the Prep School. Our Junior School for Years 3 - 6 is a place where curiosity is encouraged. Barker’s curriculum in the Middle School lays secure foundations for success in Senior years. Independent thought and learning are encouraged, as is a sense of justice, morality, respect and friendship. Barker’s Senior School is both coeducational and college-like, providing a bridge between School and University.
All fine schools look to stimulate the heart and soul, the body and mind. One of the best things about Barker is the positive climate for learning throughout the College. Students are at the heart of our work and the breadth and depth of Barker's students is extraordinary. It is our students and their hearts and minds that give us our purpose under God. I encourage you to come and visit Barker and allow us to show you all that we have to offer.

While the School regards academic work as being of primary importance, an extensive range of co-curricular activities is offered to cultivate students’ interests and to extend their abilities. Barker’s students learn to live and work by the School’s Motto, Honor Non Honores – to seek honour above rewards. It is the core of Barker’s approach in the process of nurturing leadership qualities in every one of its students.
Boarding at Barker College is a unique experience for senior students only and with a maximum student population of 60, it falls into the boutique category. Students commence boarding at Barker in Year 10 which coincides with the time that the Barker Senior School transforms to a coeducational structure. 40% of day students and 100% of boarders are new to the school at the same time, therefore making the transition process into a new school less daunting and friendships are easily made both within and outside of the boarding environment.
Barker’s approach to Student Care stems from a fundamental belief that relationships are the key – the key to success in teaching and learning; the key to effective and appropriate development as an individual; the key to bringing staff and students together. Sharing in a quality relationship with members of staff through Student Care is vital to the development of each individual student and is a primary concern of every member of staff at the school.
Barker College is located at the junction of the North Shore and Central Coast railway lines, and just at the start of the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway. The School operates several private bus services from the Northern Beaches, Terrey Hills, St Ives, Lower North Shore, Arcadia, Northbridge, Balgowlah and Narrabeen.
Barker offers several Academic and Music Scholarships to students entering Year 7 and Year 10. Boarding Scholarships are also available for students commencing Boarding from Year 10. In addition to the Scholarship Examination, the School uses school reports, NAPLAN results, questionnaires and other criteria in its decision regarding the awarding of scholarships.
