About Us

Billanook College is a member of the Round Square, a world-wide association of schools that share unique and ambitious goals. Round Square was founded by Kurt Hahn at Gordonstoun School in Scotland. Kurt Hahn believed that schools should prepare students for adulthood by enabling them to face life directly in ways that demand courage, generosity, imagination, kindness and principles.

Billanook College is one of 60 schools around the world that share a commitment, beyond academic excellence, to personal development and responsibility through service, challenge, adventure and international understanding.

Billanook challenges students to grow beyond academic excellence and to make a strong commitment to personal development and responsibility.

Billanook is dedicated to the underlying Pillars of Round Square:

International Understanding
Democracy
Environmental Sustainability
Adventure
Leadership
Service to Others

As a school our aim is to develop a dynamic and caring learning community which fosters the growth of the whole being of each girl and boy – in mind, body and spirit with a vision to provide a range of pathways to lifelong learning. Our mission goes beyond academic excellence. It is our express intention to develop graduates who are dynamic, caring and optimistic. Our hope is that they will be well-rounded individuals who are grounded in the Uniting Church way of faith, hope and love.
Billanook is committed to developing well rounded, happy young men and women in body, mind and spirit. The Staff believe that a happy child learns best. We are committed to continuing to develop a dynamic, caring, learning community in which each child is encouraged to achieve to the best of his or her ability.
