An Introduction to Groves
Groves Christian College is an independent, co-educational, Christian school serving students from the Logan City and southern Brisbane districts. Our distance education team serves families and students throughout Queensland. Through our strategic educational partnerships we host and teach a range of international and interstate students via distance, blended and face to face modes of education.
Groves is a fully accredited provider of Early Childhood Learning (including the approved Kindergarten program), Primary Schooling, Secondary Schooling, International Students Education, Training Certificates, and providing schooling through Distance Education.
A Brief History
Since 1999 Groves has been working with families to make a values based, Christian education available to all who desire it. Christian schooling considers the whole child. Our education fosters the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, ethical, aesthetic and emotional development of the children and young people in our College. We remain true to our purpose.
Groves Christian College was named in honour of Anthony Norris Groves (1795-1853). Groves was a missionary first in Baghdad and then later in southern India. He is remembered for his faithful approach to mission work and empowerment of the local people.
Groves is strengthened through its connections and its accountability
Groves is a well-established Christian College with proven management systems and an experienced leadership team. To remain fresh, focussed, connected and accountable Groves is part of and associated with a number of larger organisations.
We are accountable to our governing body, The Board of Directors of Christian Community Ministries (CCM). Our governing body oversees a number of similar schools across three states serving over 4000 students.
Groves seeks to promote the opportunity for as many families as possible to have the choice of quality Christian based education throughout Australia and beyond. To this end, we join with other like-minded Christian schools across Australia through our membership of Christian Schools Australia.
We are a non-state school or better still, an independent school. Independent schools have their own charter approved by and partially funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments. Therefore, since our commencement we have been a member of Independent Schools Queensland, an association that all levels of government recognise as the representative body of independent schools in Queensland.
