About Us

John Paul College is one of Queensland’s largest and most progressive private, independent, co-educational schools with a reputation for offering Kindergarten to Year 12 students a contemporary learning experience, supported by comprehensive co-curricular performing arts and sporting programs and a leading Notebook Computer Program.

Our campus is located in Daisy Hill, south-east of Brisbane and north of the Gold Coast.

Our aim is to develop well-balanced students who are real world ready. To ensure we deliver a consistently high standard of education to all age groups, our College is divided into a number of "schools within a school".

We have a strong sense of community and a proud sense of family. Our College focuses on mutual respect and provides students with the freedom to grow as individuals within our Christian ecumenical community.

About Us

Ready for the future

John Paul College is set on a 35 hectare campus located in Daisy Hill, on the south-side of Brisbane.

Features of our campus include landscaped gardens and wireless networked contemporary buildings, purpose-built to meet the needs of our students and the wider College community.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include a fully-heated 10 lane swimming pool, an indoor sporting complex with sprung floor, modern air-conditioned classrooms, world-class sporting ovals, Child Care and Outside Hours School Care (OHSC) for busy families, and a retail centre for uniform and book purchases.

The College offers students a range of support services such as Learning Enhancement, Chaplaincy and IT support.

Development on our campus is guided by a Master Plan that has seen the recent completion major works including the addition of a Kindergarten, a Retail Centre, state-of-the-art Senior School Gorman Centre, the Stephen Paul Aquatic Centre, the Stephen Bowers Oval, Cashless Canteen, and the Stephen Mapstone Centre for Applied Design. Existing facilities have also been redeveloped and refurbished.
Ready for the journey

The John Paul College journey begins as early as Kindergarten when our youngest students begin to explore, questions, experiment and play.

This continues through the Junior School years with a blend of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Australian Curriculum, giving priority to foundation skills, knowledge and understanding in the context of a caring community.

Ready to challenge

Year 4 marks the beginning of the notebook computer program at the College, integrating technologies into a student's everyday learning environment.

Our specialist middle years' pastoral and learning programs aim to engage each student in learning while challenging them to grow. Building relationships and creating confidence helps to shape the person that is yet to be, recognising that academic progress during these early adolescent years depends on students feeling emotionally and socially connected.

Ready for tomorrow

Whatever their destination, we offer exceptional choice for our Senior students as they prepare for tomorrow and make decisions about life after school.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, learning for life in our global community is very much a reality for our students. We aim to provide each child with an innovative education and internationally-oriented curriculum that delivers real world learning.

And with a variety of pathways to prepare them for the real world, our students really are REAL WORLD READY.

Ready for the spotlight Students are encouraged to participate in one of the most extensive co-curricular sporting programs of any Australian school, in a wide range of team and individual sports. The College maintains a proud record of sporting achievements, both nationally and internationally. John Paul College has also sustained an outstanding record of high achievement in the Performing Arts. Within the School of Performing Arts, students can participate in group or private instrumental, vocal, dance and drama lessons on a weekly basis. Each student's talent is further enhanced by involvement in an extensive and highly profiled performance program.

Headmaster, Norm Kerley congratulated the students.

Principal's Message

Schools are ‘places of people’

No matter the quality of buildings, facilities and programmes, it is the people within schools that matter the most.  The way in which the people, the students, staff and families interact is at the heart of education.  Our ability to communicate, collaborate, solve problems, become resilient, respect and care for each other will determine ‘success’.  In nurturing ‘people skills’ we ready students to thrive in their world and gain employment and life satisfaction.  Students as learners are encouraged to challenge and make choices, to inquire and explore with a view to shaping their own learning.  They are encouraged to consider a range of opportunities, both within the classroom and beyond, imagine possibilities, and identify goals for their studies and future careers, which the College can support.

We are fortunate that our College community is a microcosm of wider society.  It is one, which while contemporary in its teaching and learning, maintains and embraces the traditional values of a Christian ethos.  Our standards proudly remain high, and achievements celebrated.  We are giving a focus to compassion and promoting the character traits so essential in today’s world.

Norm Kerley, Headmaster
