One of Brisbane’s leading girls schools, Moreton Bay College (MBC) offers a unique, all-round education for each student, based on its record of outstanding academic achievement, exceptional cultural and sporting success and a strong commitment to Christian values and service to others.

The College is a Prep to Year 12 Uniting Church independent day school for girls, with a childcare centre for boys and girls. Set amongst 20 tranquil hectares at Manly West, the spacious campus and excellent facilities provide opportunities for all students to participate in the broad co-curricular programme and to experience success, not only academically, but also in music, drama, art, and a wide range of sports.

The College’s challenging and comprehensive academic curriculum is taught by creative, dynamic teachers with attention to the individual needs of students, so that each girl is encouraged to reach her own level of excellence.

About Us

The Moreton Bay College philosophy promotes the all-round development of students and, in doing so, boasts some of the best academic, cultural and sporting facilities in Queensland.
The College curriculum provides a comprehensive program at all levels - to stimulate, inspire, motivate and push the boundaries of the girls’ cognitive, affective and physical abilities.

With the highest possible standards of intellectual education, intimately linked to the full development of our girls’ personal character and integrity, every Moreton Bay graduate can meet her future with positive self-esteem and confidence in her own abilities.

As an adjunct to the College co-curricular program, private tuition provides participating students with a further opportunity to develop skills and expertise in the cultural and sporting arenas.

At Moreton Bay College we are confident that each girl’s participation in co-curricular pursuits, whether at a beginner, intermediate or elite level, encourages her to strive for personal goals, fosters teamwork and gives her exposure to the qualities of perseverance, determination, commitment, fair play, courage and hope. The College has a proud tradition of wide co-curricular choice in both the cultural and sporting arenas, and today it offers one of the best ranges of co-curricular activities in the State. In principle, we advocate a broad and balanced educational and co-curricular program, one which supports and nurtures the development of the complete young adult. Girls are also eligible for District, Regional, State and National selection for sporting and cultural pursuits. Teams of MBC students and individual girls consistently reach the highest levels of representative honour in the country. Clubs and Groups at MBC extend the range of co-curricular activities available to students. Areas as diverse as service learning, Christian fellowship and academic extension provide opportunities for students to engage with others across year levels in various interest areas.

Through the provision of a stimulating, secure and supportive learning environment based on Christian principles and beliefs, Moreton Bay College aims to provide each girl with the opportunity to develop qualities of compassion, respect, tolerance, dignity, self-worth and confidence.

We are committed to providing the full breadth of personal growth and development opportunities to each girl.

We also work to instill in each student that ultimately it is she who is responsible for her own development, and to this end, we encourage students to make the greatest use of opportunities provided by the College.

Principal's Message

Moreton Bay College has a long tradition educating girls. The College was founded in 1901 by Miss Alison Greene and her sister Anne. The College has had a strong philosophy of educating the whole person – body, mind, heart and spirit. The focus on academic excellence, underpinned by a rich and caring pastoral program serves as the foundation of the educational experience for our girls. This is coupled with a vibrant and strong co-curricular program across visual and performing arts, cultural activities and a wide range of sports.

Girls need an environment that gives both boundaries and freedom to explore and experiment, to take risks, to debate and challenge. Moreton Bay College provides this and our outstanding teaching staff strive to ensure girls achieve their personal best, embrace the opportunities to develop as leaders, to volunteer, to develop courage to overcome and to act with integrity. As a single sex College for girls they are free to be themselves and to build a strong and resilient self-esteem.

Choosing a school can be one of the most challenging and difficult decisions a parent can make. While this can seem to be overwhelming it is worth remembering that it really is an investment in your child's future. I believe you can feel a great school and it is only by visiting Moreton Bay College that you will get a feeling for the values and culture present. As a Christian school in the Uniting Church tradition our school is committed to fostering the personal, moral and academic growth of our students through the school values of;

Engagement– We live and learn with passion, enthusiasm and resourcefulness. We embrace innovation and creativity to contribute to and shape the future.

Character– We act with integrity and goodwill in all that we do. We show courage and resilience.

Care– We care for ourselves, others and the environment. We nurture the best in each other.

Teamwork– we are open-minded and respectful towards each other. We work collaboratively to achieve our common purpose.

I encourage each and every parent to look for the school that best suits the needs and interests of their daughter. Moreton Bay College has an abundance of opportunities for girls to explore, and to discover their strengths. Our students are encouraged to extend themselves intellectually and to strive to achieve - whether this is in the classroom, on the playing field or on the stage. For a young girl to grow into a woman capable of dealing with any of life's challenges they need a school experience that allows them to have both a breadth of mind, and depth of heart.

For a child to shine they need a school that cares for them; cares about them. To shine they need to be safe and free from harm and bullying. To shine they need to learn from kind, patient and intelligent teaching. For girls to shine they need to have strong and firm boundaries and feel they are respected. This is the foundation of the Moreton Bay College experience and I invite you to become a part of this very special place!

Keep shining.
