Northside Christian College

Over our 33-year history, Northside Christian College has grown into one of the leading private, co-educational, non-denominational Christian schools in North Brisbane, offering Christ centered education from Prep to Year 12. The College is well known and respected for its great academic results, commitment to character development, sporting spirit and passionate community service.

Students thrive under the pastoral care and discipleship of our dedicated teachers, who create an environment of care. Students are valued as individuals with a unique set of God-given gifts and purposes.

The satisfaction of the students, parents and staff is reflected in our consistent enrolment numbers, high staff retention rate and low absenteeism. Word-of-mouth recommendations (average 83%) continued to be a significant factor for parents choosing to enrol their children at Northside.

Our campus is located in Everton Park, about 12 km north from Brisbane CBD.

Music, Drama and Performing Arts

Bands, orchestras, ensembles, choirs, and dance groups are fixtures in the co-curricular program. Performing on stage builds confidence and poise and teaches young people valuable life skills about managing nerves and resilience.

State-of-the art Centre for Innovation and Creativity

The new Centre for Innovation and Creativity will be open in Term 2, 2017 and will provide state-of-the-art facilities. We want to mentor tomorrow’s social innovators, entrepreneurs and changemakers.       The new facility will offer: Drama and dance studios, design technology, film, television & new media, recording studios, music, visual art, gallery walk and entrepreneurial hub.

Sports

Sport is an integral part of student life at Northside. Students of all ages benefit from the diverse range of sporting opportunities offered through inter-house and interschool carnivals, interschool fixtures, tournaments, gala days, social sport, regular fitness training and lunch time competitions. There’s something for everyone: AFL, Basketball, Cricket, Cross-Country, Football, Futsal, Netball, Rugby 7s, Swimming, Tennis, Touch, Track and Field, Volleyball and many others.

Consistently Strong Academic Results

The college is acknowledged as a "School identifying substantially above average gain" by Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). Our students achieve academic results well above the State average and excel in the arts, sports and community service.

The secondary school was ranked in the top 7% of Queensland schools in The Australian's annual school rating (2016), while the primary school is in top 1% of best performing Primary Schools in North Brisbane and Moreton Bay (Naplan 2016).

Vocational Education Opportunities

High school students may choose from two equally valid pathways: the Vocational Educational (Voc Ed) pathway, which leads ultimately to a trade through an apprenticeship, traineeship, or approved course; or for students wishing to continue to tertiary studies, the College offers the OP pathway.

Technology & Digital Education

From Primary to Secondary School, Northside Christian College equips students with the best skills for future employment in an increasingly competitive globalized economy. The program offered at Northside aligns with our Christian values and partners with families, supporting parents in managing technology in the home.

About Us

NEW! Centre for Innovation and Creativity to open in 2017!
At Northside, we help your child discover the talents that God has given them and how to use these gifts. Students are provided with varied opportunities through classroom, co-curricular and pastoral care programs that facilitate and inspire learning now, and encourage a desire to continue learning in the future.

In Junior School, we aim to provide a range of engaging and relevant learning opportunities and experiences, as appropriate for the student’s development. In the Early Years (Prep to Year 2), the focus is on exposing children to experiences and immersing them in an environment that stimulates curiosity and wonder about their world, their God and the people and practices around them. In Upper Junior (Year 3 to Year 6), the focus changes to developing control of skills and strategies to enable them to learn effectively and develop wholesome and God-honouring relationships, working towards independence.

In Middle and Senior School, students are engaged in an innovative one-to-one technology program which equips them with a personal digital device. They are using Apple iPads to research, collaborate and present their findings in class. They are using the technology to access the College’s learning management system where resources for all subjects can be shared and discussed. Teachers are creating tasks for students within the learning environment which, without iPads, were previously inconceivable.

We are proud of the consistently high academic achievements of our students. In 2013, our students performed above the state average in every category tested by NAPLAN. A third of students achieved an OP between 1 and 6.

Faith

Discipleship happens in the classroom as well, where students explore the tenets of the Christian faith. But it doesn’t stop with facts and verses. Northside Christian College challenges its students to put action to their words and beliefs. They are encouraged to live lives that bring glory to God, care for His creation, and spread His love to the people around us.

Learn more

Alongside our academic and vocational programs, rich learning opportunities arise through extensive co-curricular activities, faith-in-action missions trips, challenging camping programs, creative pursuits, overseas student-exchanges and sporting interests.
