Camberwell Grammar School has long been one of Melbourne’s leading independent schools for boys. We are proud of the warm spirit that characterises our school family. The school has established a climate in which the potential for boys to achieve to the best of their ability is nurtured. In keeping with this, there is a strong tradition of high academic performance with an open entry policy. We are also committed to the traditions of a rounded liberal education. Consequently, the program encourages all students to develop themselves in a range of areas and activities whether they be academic, in the arts or on the sporting field.

The school is a single campus site and is a mixture of gracious period architecture and purpose-built facilities. The Angliss Building features a Middle School complex and ‘open classrooms’ while the H.R. McDonald Building provides splendid facilities for boys in the senior years. The Performing Arts Centre provides a magnificent showcase for drama and music performance. In 2014 the opening of the new Wheelton Centre completed the Senior School. In 2015 work commenced on a new Sports Centre, underground carpark, Chapel and Function Centre.
The curriculum has been developed as a cohesive program which begins in the Junior School (Pre-Preparatory to Year 5), continues through the Middle School (Year 6, 7 and 8) and into Senior School (Years 9,10,11 and 12). Students benefit from a commitment to excellence in teaching, fine facilities and resources, and clearly stated expectations and standards.

A rich co-curricular offering includes a wide range of sports while cultural life at the school has long had a high profile through an extensive music program. The school also undertakes a number of dramatic productions each year.

Students are cared for as individuals with differing abilities, interests and goals. Skilled professionals work to further the self-esteem of each boy and his capacity to meet the rigorous demands of learning in an academic environment. The pastoral care structure focuses on the year group in the Junior and Middle Schools and the House system in the Senior School where each boy is assigned a Head of House and an individual tutor in a cross-age tutor group. The system is practical, building a bridge of understanding between the boy, his family and the school.
