In Domino Confido - In God I Trust
Established in 1898, Christ Church Grammar School is a leading, inner city, independent, coeducational school that provides an outstanding education for 3 -12 year old children.
We aspire to be the leading coeducational school for children through to Year 6 by embracing explicit, evidence-based learning; enabling every child to be their best; ensuring our children learn in an environment grounded by love and faith; and by fostering caring, supportive and enduring relationships with children, families and the community.
We are an inclusive community and treasure the unique spirit of each and every child. Quality teaching and learning, high expectations and supportive relationships encourage our young children to develop in character and to aspire to be their very best.
From Preparatory onwards, specialist teachers work with our children in a range of areas including the arts, music, languages and physical education.
We also offer a comprehensive cocurricular program that caters for diverse interests such as Latin, French, chess, computer coding, homework club, karate, gymnastics and drama.
At Christ Church Grammar School we know that children learn best when their individual needs are identified and addressed in a nurturing, supportive and encouraging environment with positive role models.
2017 NAPLAN Results
The school was thrilled to receive the news and congratulations from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) that our students had achieved substantially above average gain in numeracy, as measured by NAPLAN, as students progress from Year 3 to Year 5. Gains of this magnitude are significant and worthy of acknowledgement and apply to only a limited number of schools within Australia.
Our continual focus on effective use of data and implementation of an explicit teaching and learning model, contributes to our school’s success.
We have implemented ongoing pre-, post- and formative assessments of all mathematical concepts and this has enabled identification of individual student achievement and the level at which each student is “ready to learn”. Using this assessment data we have established small, differentiated groupings that embrace flexibility and meet the needs of all students. We deliver a targeted, rich curriculum that extends all students regardless of their individual starting points.
Feedback is paramount and students are provided with regular opportunities to reflect, respond and apply this feedback.
In 2018, we have adopted the same explicit teaching and learning approach in the area of English.
