Loreto Normanhurst is a leading Sydney, Catholic independent, boarding and day school for girls from Years 5-12. Established as a boarding school in 1897 Loreto Normanhurst offers full time boarding for girls in Years 7-12, and is a ‘home away from home’ for up to 200 young women, most of whom are from Country NSW.
Located in Sydney’s leafy Upper North Shore, the school is set on 13.6 hectares of glorious grounds, on the edge of bushland. It is approximately 45minutes away from the city, and is conveniently close to the M1, as well as the M2 and M7 Motorways. The grounds at Loreto Normanhurst are a pleasant mix of historic buildings and modern learning spaces, with beautiful ovals and a large sporting and aquatic centre. The boarders have access to these wonderful facilities, as well as the Learning Resource Centre, gymnasium, tennis courts, music rooms, and other specialist rooms after hours.
A caring, well-organised, and stable environment characterises our boarding school, where all staff work in partnership with parents to make the most of the boarding experience offered at Loreto Normanhurst. Boarders are encouraged to participate to the fullest extent in school life, to discover their gifts and to take advantage of every opportunity for personal growth.
The school’s award-winning model of education, the Loreto Normanhurst Student Growth Model (LNSGM) is innovative and dynamic, and fosters critical thinking, curiosity and joy in learning - an education which prepares a Loreto Boarder for an exciting future. The success of the model in the academic realm is evident in the school's strong results. Loreto Normanhurst achieved two First Places in Course, two Top Achievers in Course and 15 students on the All-Rounders List in the 2017 HSC.
