Meg Melville — Principal of Penrhos College

Meg Melville is well-known to many members of the Penrhos community. Having joined the College as a teacher of Economics in 1979, Meg was appointed Head of Social Science in 1985 and went on to be Year 11 Coordinator in 2000, then Head of Senior School in 2001 before becoming the sixth Principal of Penrhos College in 2010.

Meg brings a wealth of knowledge of the College, its values and traditions to the role of Principal; she is perfectly positioned to continue to lead in the design and development of the College’s Strategic Directions to be set for the next four-year period 2019 – 2023.

“Penrhos College is committed to providing an education that honours our traditions and Christian values in a climate of change. Our students today think and operate differently to the students of years gone by.  We must help them to develop strong coping mechanisms, transferable life skills and strategies which equip them to problem-solve capably.

Our focus is on nurturing and inspiring the mind, heart, body and spirit of each girl to promote strength of character and courage of conviction. We seek to enable each student to explore her potential, find her niche and – ultimately – to move into adulthood with the confidence to navigate all of life’s opportunities and challenges successfully.

Penrhos College girls are fortunate to have access to outstanding resources; our inspirational staff and range of academic, pastoral and co-curricular programs are designed to support each individual’s journey through our Junior and Secondary Schools and beyond.

To my mind, there is another vital ingredient to our ongoing success – the open, honest and positive relations we cultivate with the family of each girl. Three-way engagement between the College, the student and their family is essential to ensure we are all working together in the best interests of our girls.

My hope and ambition is that each Penrhos student will understand and appreciate the significance of all she has learned during her time at the College, and that she will take this gift with her as she graduates from Year 12 and moves into adult life.”
