Seton College is a small Catholic Co-Educational College with a maximum enrolment of 260 students. It is ideally suited for students of varying abilities. The curriculum is similar to those offered in any regular High School. However the College has a special focus in that it provides opportunities for students who have experienced difficulties with their schoolwork in earlier years. The College motto - “Sursum Corda” (Lift up your Hearts) challenges each member of this community to be a person of hope. In this spirit of hope and through a concern for each individual student, it is hoped that students will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to proudly take their place in society.

Programs

QCE The Queensland Certificate of Education is Queensland’s senior schooling certificate. To be awarded a QCE, students must demonstrate a significant amount of learning to a set standard and in a set pattern, and meet literacy and numeracy requirements. Students must obtain at least 20 points to be awarded a QCE. VET Vocational Education and Training courses provide numerous pathways into training and include a greater emphasis upon the world of work. Students select courses that enable them to concentrate on industry-specific areas such as Business, Hospitality, Furnishing or Agrifood Operations (Horticulture). The Vocational Education Program provides students with entry-level training and qualifications that are industry endorsed. All competencies achieved are Nationally Accredited and are recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

About Us

The College is located on spacious grounds in Cavendish Road, Mt Gravatt East. An extensive and ongoing building programme for general and specialist areas has seen the college transformed into a modern educational centre. New Classroon and specialist Blocks in a bushland setting have created a picturesque complex. Sporting facilities include a 25 metre pool, multipurpose court and indoor and outdoor gymnasiums. The College Chapel is used for weekly prayer assemblies.
Seton College is a regular high school in the junior years. Students of all abilities can do well but the College also provides opportunities for students who have experienced difficulties with their school work in earlier years to be more successful. The curriculum includes most core subjects and elective subjects in the areas of Commerce, Home Economics and Manual Arts. Particular emphasis is given to Literacy and Numeracy. Programs in all subject areas are offered at many different levels so that students with a wide range of abilities can experience success by being the best that they can be.

SENIOR SCHOOL CURRICULUM QCE/ VET

Outstanding opportunities for students pursuing vocational pathways are provided by our experienced VET team so that students gain a head start in securing employment.

Currently the College offers the following courses with the view of adding more scope:-

Certificate II in Retail, Certificate II in Active Volunteering, Certificate I in Agri Food Operations (Horticulture), Certificate I in Business, Certificate I in Information- Digital, Certificate I in Media and Technology, Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways, School based Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

The college is involved in a variety of extra curricular programs including intra and interschool swimming, athletics and cross country running. An active swimming squad program is available. The college runs a wide variety of lunch-time extra curricular programs including ecogardening, coffee club, board games club, computer games club, art, etc...

Pastoral Care: Seton College operates a vertical, family style Pastoral Care grouping with two teachers (generally a male and a female teacher) who care for the emotional, organisational and academic needs of their students. PC classes consist of students from Year Eight through to Year Twelve and are arranged into House groups. There is an emphasis on older students supporting younger students as they grow in the same group with the same PC teachers for the five years of their secondary schooling. In this way it is hoped that student wellbeing is fostered and a good, long term personal and working relationship develops between teachers, students and their families.
