Frederick Irwin Anglican School is one of the oldest Independent schools in the Peel Region.

The School opened in February 1991 with 175 students and now has 1530 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The school grounds and facilities have developed considerably since foundation, with the most recent additions of the Year 7 Transition Centre and the Rush Chapel, which was completed in July 2016.

Since its inception, the School has aimed continually to provide excellent facilities to further student academic, athletic and cultural opportunities for our students.

2011 saw the foundation Principal, Mr Geoffrey Arnold, hand the School over to its second Principal, Ms Kerry Robertson, to continue and grow the School into the 21st Century.

In 2018, Frederick Irwin Anglican School (with the Anglican Schools Commission Inc.) opened the Halls Head Campus, allowing the intake of more primary students across two campuses within the Mandurah community.

Primary

The House system is used to develop the feeling of unity and cooperation. It builds school spirit and a sense of community.

In Primary, each House is led by a House Coordinator who is a member of the teaching staff.

These House Coordinators facilitate and support the participation and well-being of students within their House at events and activities throughout the calendar year. Classroom teachers take pastoral care responsibility for the students in their own classrooms and are assigned to a particular House. As a professional and supportive learning community, the leadership team and teaching staff approach pastoral care together, ensuring that each student feels comfortable, safe and encouraged.

Houses are made up of students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with each student assigned to one of the six Houses. Siblings are assigned to the same House.

Secondary

Pastoral Care underpins all that is done at Frederick Irwin Anglican School. In the Secondary School, Pastoral Care is primarily delivered via the House System.

Each student is assigned to one of the six Houses; each House is led by a Head of House and Assistant Head of House. Each House has seven House Groups with a House Group Teacher assigned to each.

House Groups are made up of students from Years 8 to 12 with Year 7s joining the House Groups at the start of Term 3 as part of the Year 7 Transition programme. Siblings are assigned to the same House and are often in the same House Group.

The Heads of House, together with the House Group Teachers, provide support in all aspects of a student’s life at school; helping them to achieve academically whilst overseeing their social and mental health and well-being. House Groups meet together at the start of every day.

Years 7 and 11 Scholarships 2021

Thank you for your interest in an Academic and/or Music Performance Scholarship for students entering Years 7 or 11 in 2021.

Frederick Irwin was established in 1991 and in 2019 has 1611 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The School has a commitment to academic excellence and academic achievement, cultural and sporting pursuits. The awarding of Academic and Music Performance Scholarships for students is an expression of that commitment.

Frederick Irwin is an Anglican School which operates along traditional lines. All students wear school uniform and, within a disciplined, structured environment, all students are supported and encouraged to achieve their potential.

In the first three years of Secondary, students are offered a broad range of courses including Japanese and Music. A wide range of WACE courses is offered in Senior Secondary. Students are taught in modern, purpose built facilities and all of the classrooms are air-conditioned.

A number of Academic and Music Performance Scholarships will be awarded in 2020 for students entering Years 7 and 11 in 2021.

Relevant Information

1. Late applications will not be accepted.
2. Scholarships are for students entering Years 7 or 11 in 2021.
3. Scholarship Value – Year 7: 50% of the tuition fees tenable for six years. All other costs, levies, charges etc. will be the responsibility of the parents.
   Scholarship Value – Year 11: 50% of the tuition fees for the student in both Year 11 and Year 12. All other costs, levies, charges etc. will be the responsibility of the parents.
4. Please note that students can apply for both Academic and Music Performance Scholarships, but if successful will be awarded only one Scholarship.
5. Continuation of the Academic and Music Performance Scholarship from one year to the next will be dependent upon a Scholarship student’s continuing satisfactory performance, conduct and contribution to the School. Music Performance Scholarship students will also be required to participate fully in the School’s Music programme including instrumental lessons, bands, ensembles and performances.
6. A copy of July 2019 and December 2019 School Reports are required (including Music Reports/External Music Reports for Music Performance Scholarship applicants.) These can be emailed to principalpa@frederickirwin.wa.edu.au, faxed to (08) 9537 0099 or posted to the School, marked for the attention of Mrs Dalton, at least 10 days prior to the examination. (School Reports are not required for students currently attending Frederick Irwin.)

Students at Frederick Irwin Anglican School have access to a number of orange school bus and Transperth bus services, operating in and out of the School for both before-school and after-school services.

Students should be aware of which bus number and what time they need to be at the bus bay in order to board the correct service.

Frederick Irwin Anglican School staff are in attendance after-school to monitor the buses as they enter and leave the school grounds, as well as to help drivers of cars to navigate student pick-ups once the final bell for the day has rung.

Each semester we open our doors to the wider community, so prospective parents and families can see how the School inspires learning and see firsthand the facilities their children will be using.

Our Open Morning will give insight into the academic, co-curricular and sporting activities the School has to offer. Families will also be taken on a tour around the school facilities and be able to chat with key members of staff.

Frederick Irwin Anglican School offers an array of academic, cultural and sporting opportunities to all students who attend the School. Our students also have access to new digital technologies and the ability to experience current learning programmes which enhance their learning potential.
