Guildford Grammar School is leading the way as an inclusive Pre-K-12, co-educational, boarding and day school in Western Australia.

With a proud heritage of 127 years, warm and connected community and a deep commitment to living our purpose and values, we stand apart.

We believe that students have agency in their own learning, and the ability to positively influence their own lives and the world around them, now and into the future.

Inspiring passion and purpose

Guildford Grammar School is leading the way as an inclusive, co-educational, boarding and day school in Western Australia. Founded in 1896, the school has a proud heritage of providing an outstanding education and extraordinary opportunities for girls and boys from Kindergarten to Year 12.

With a proud heritage of over 125 years, warm and connected community and a deep commitment to living our purpose and values, we stand apart. We believe that students have agency in their own learning, and the ability to positively influence their own lives and the world around them, now and into the future.

Our warm and inclusive culture grounds students with integrity and compassion, encouraging individual growth and the desire to be strong, global citizens.

We are blessed with a stunning campus and unrivalled, natural surroundings on the banks of the Swan River, welcoming all in a stimulating environment that promotes wellbeing and the spirit of discovery.

Learning is limitless

We believe in the adventure of learning. Our team of dynamic and passionate educators strive to support each young person to discover the joy of learning, their passions and strengths and to develop essential skills and capabilities to enable them to not only survive, but to thrive during their time at school and beyond.

We have a comprehensive academic program where students are motivated by choice and can pursue a wide range of courses across a broad range of curriculum. Guildford Grammar School is a place where everyone is known, valued and supported to be the best that they can be. We believe that the value of an education worth having is more than just academic success. We create pathways to personal excellence that inspire students to go forward and define their own success.

Regarded as one of the most beautiful and expansive schools in Western Australia, Guildford Grammar School sits on almost 100 hectares of undulating land. Surrounded by vast bushland, our picturesque grounds and impressive campus on the banks of the Swan River offer plenty of wide-open spaces for our students to explore – all just 20 minutes from the centre of Perth.

The sprawling natural landscape provides extraordinary nature-based learning opportunities and allows for a diverse range of sporting activities, with our main playing fields and rowing shed located on site.

At Guildford Grammar School, learning ventures beyond the classroom. Our comprehensive co-curricular program offers extraordinary opportunities for every child to explore their unique passions, talents and strengths.

We value the importance of a well-rounded education. Our aim is to provide students with practical, hands-on and meaningful experiences that develop their skill-set, exhibit their non-academic abilities and provide a pathway to explore these opportunities whilst complementing their curricular program.

Co-curricular activities are an important part of school life and allow students to:

  • Develop curiosity and courage through age-appropriate risk taking in sports, music, the arts or new pursuits.
  • Improve academic success – research shows a strong link between academic outcomes and co-curricular participation.
  • Foster their sense of responsibility and enjoy improved relationships and wellbeing.
  • Younger students adapt their learning through play and discover new strengths and talents.

A boarding experience like no other

Our Boarding House is not just a place to live, it’s a place for students to grow. Our new world-class, co-educational Boarding Precinct is situated within unrivalled, natural surroundings that offer a boarding experience for girls and boys like no other.

Since our foundation in 1896, Guildford Grammar School has established a proud tradition of boarding, providing a home away from home for our students from regional Western Australia, interstate and overseas.

The Boarding House — a class of its own

Our new world-class Boarding House, located on the northern side of Terrace Road, is at the heart of the school’s spectacular 100-hectare campus, surrounded by wide open spaces and stunning views across the banks of the Swan River.

The bright, comfortable and contemporary spaces are designed for modern day living and with our boarders’ needs at the forefront.

The facilities include separate and secure living areas for girls and boys, and both single sex and co-educational social lounges, as well as flexible meeting rooms, kitchen facilities, media lounges and study spaces for relaxation, study and group gatherings.

Belonging

Family is at the heart of our boarding community. Our home away from home provides a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes a sense of belonging. Our dedicated boarding staff live on campus and boarders benefit from an extended family, a whole team of caring and experienced people who ensure that every child is known and valued.

Our boarding students enrich our school culture. Learning and living together, boarders can develop shared values and establish lifelong friendships.

Within this supportive environment, boarders can pursue personal excellence. Our extensive academic program and full and varied co-curricular program offer extraordinary opportunities that inspire students to go forward and define their own success.

A shared experience

We offer a unique, shared opportunity for the whole family. Just like at home, co-educational boarding provides a unique experience for siblings to learn and live together at school and share the boarding journey, offering comfort for the whole family while also affording flexibility and convenience for parents.

There are many benefits to co-educational boarding that have a lasting impact on a child’s learning journey. Co-educational boarding encourages important social and emotional skills and provides a setting to develop healthy and respectful relationships with one another.

Extraordinary opportunities

Our spacious campus and ideal location offer plenty of space for our boarders to explore, be free and have fun! In addition to the school’s comprehensive co-curricular and sporting program, Guildford Grammar School boarders enjoy an extensive program that is aimed at providing a full and rich boarding experience. Recreational activity is critical to ensure our boarders enjoy a healthy balance of leisure and study time.

The religious, spiritual and liturgical life of our School is central to our mission, and extends beyond the Chapel to the classroom, on stage, on the sporting field or while travelling to and from school. Guildford Grammar School promotes an inclusive, Christian ethos in the Anglican tradition that recognises thoughtful place for the Bible. All students are required to attend Chapel Services, congregational singing and participate in Christian and religious education classes. With a proud heritage of over 125 years and guided by the Anglican faith, students are inspired to live a life of purpose.

• Excellence – being the best we can be

• Respect – showing appreciation and consideration for those around us

• Integrity – sticking to moral and ethical principles even when others are not looking

• Spirituality – a personal way of loving, accepting and sharing with people and the world

• Compassion – showing sympathy and empathy for others
At Guildford Grammar School, students learn to become independent thinkers, problem solvers and innovators.

In our rapidly changing world, students need these skills to adapt and grow. We inspire our students to develop a thirst for knowledge and a lifelong love of learning.

Students are empowered to find their own individual strengths and passions on their journey of discovery.

Grounded by our Anglican faith, our shared values nurture students to grow in all aspects of their lives, inspiring them to have a positive impact on the world.

From the Principal – Pete Allen

Guildford Grammar School is much more than a school. It is a community in which generations of Western Australians and Old Guildfordians feel a deep sense of belonging to, belonging that can last a lifetime.

Our proud heritage of over 125 years, guides our contemporary experience. When Mr Charles Harper opened his home in Woodbridge to the first 18 students in 1896, he knew nothing of the Guildford Grammar School that we see before us.

Surrounded by wide-open space, on the banks of the Swan River, the opportunities are endless. Our youngest students explore our grounds with curiosity during Bush School. Our rowers glide perfectly in sync along the winding river. Our musicians fill the air with beautiful melodies and laughter echoes around the campus wherever you go. Everyday our boarders walk along Terrace Road to our world-class Boarding House, home to over 150 girls and boys, brothers and sisters, from regional Western Australia, interstate and overseas.

At Guildford Grammar School, students are inspired to live a life of purpose. We believe that they have agency in their own learning, and the ability to positively influence their own lives and the world around them, now and into the future.

They are empowered to find their own individual strengths and passions on their journey of discovery to personal excellence, through academic, sport and co-curricular pursuits.

Working with students and partnering with families, we focus on educating the whole child, and prepare graduates with the capacity to rise to life’s opportunities and challenges whilst pursuing pathways to personal success. As we lead the way as an inclusive Pre-K to Year 12, co-educational, boarding and day school in Western Australia, we will continue to build a community that is defined by its values, celebrates its diversity and is loved by the students who are fortunate to walk our grounds.

I welcome you to explore our unrivalled surroundings and join our special community.
