A Kilvington education – academic excellence

At Kilvington we prepare girls and boys for the challenges of a rapidly changing world by providing them with a learning environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth and global engagement. Our mission is to inspire students to strive for academic excellence, and to nurture their aspirations in a caring, family-oriented community to become people of depth, strength, integrity and character. The Kilvington educational philosophy begins and ends with the uniqueness of each student, with teaching styles matched to students’ individual needs and interests. Our comprehensive Arts and Sport programs develop students’ musical, dramatic and physical abilities, and make essential contributions to our key aim of catering for the ‘whole child’.

Single-Sex Classes at Kilvington

The middle years of schooling are a pivotal time in a student's educational journey. To support our students during this formative period, we offer single-sex classes in English, Science, Physical Education, and Health for Years 7 to 9.

A Welcoming Environment

One of the first things people notice when visiting Kilvington is its friendly and open atmosphere. This is vital, as students tend to learn most effectively when they feel comfortable and happy in a welcoming environment. Kilvington is renowned for its excellent Pastoral Care program which allows teachers to work with the students and their families to ensure each student’s health, wellbeing and happiness.

The Character Initiative focuses on developing key character traits through our curriculum. It integrates character development into regular wellbeing/mentoring sessions and dedicated school days. Led by Kilvington’s passionate Character Development Team and supported by longstanding external partnerships, the initiative ensures that character education is as important as all other aspects of the Kilvington curriculum.

The Impact Program

The Impact Program is a Year 9 holistic and unique program that gives our students the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to help thrive at school and life after Kilvington.

It is built on real-world experiences, developing core competencies, encouraging ‘thinking big’ and creating connections based on respect and trust.

"The Impact Program is about doing school differently. As students transition from being a child to an adolescent, it’s about steeping them in real life experiences and bringing Year 9s out of the formal structure of the classroom."
— Mark Williams, Dean of the Impact Program
