Welcome to Nunawading Christian College. At NCC, we can offer your child continuous Christian education from Early Learning (3-4 years of age) to VCE. Our college is committed to offering a broad and balanced education for the whole child. Enrolment is open to all families willing to accept the ethos and values of our School.

Nunawading Christian College provides values based education from ELC to Year 12 in a safe and caring environment to families from all backgrounds and faiths. At Nunawading Christian College, we recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents in providing excellent Christian education for our students.

The College emphasises the development of the total person: the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual aspects are all important. It is our aim to provide an academic program which meets the needs of each student to enable them to reach their fullest potential.

In Years 7 and 8 the curriculum is structured to transition students from primary to secondary level with a focus on students developing emotional, physical, spiritual and academic needs. Students are encouraged to think critically, to create, make and engage with a broad curriculum. A range of co-curricular programs such as a robust Peer Support Program helps to transition Year 7 into secondary school.

The comprehensive curriculum at Years 9 and 10 responds to the developmental needs of students through a range of co-curricular activities as well as a varied academic program. Students are able to choose electives in Year 9 which gives them a wider choice in their own education. All Year 9 students take part in an outdoor Challenge Program once a week. Learn more about the Year 9 Challenge Program.

Our aim is to encourage students to develop a love, passion and curiosity for learning that goes beyond the classroom.
In Year 10, students begin to choose options and pathways for higher levels of study. All students may apply for an early VCE Unit 1 and 2 subject.

VCE extension classes in year 10 are taught by highly qualified and specialised teaching staff who endeavour to stimulate and extend all students. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and learn skills to navigate their way through the inevitable greater workload.

Career Support

At Year 10 level all students participate in:

a week long work experience placement of their choice

career testing and debriefing

information sessions on how to use the Job Guide to identify qualifications needed for specific careers

information session on how to use VTAC Course Search to explore tertiary courses and to identify pre-requisite subjects at VCE level

individual subject choice counselling in consultation with the student’s teachers.

All Year 10 and 11 students attend a career expo, where they can explore an extensive range of career and course options.

At Year 11 and 12 level, subject selection advice continues to ensure maximum success, wellbeing and support.

A brief career test is offered to Year 12 students to help clarify options and to equip students with the language needed to identify their workplace strengths and weaknesses.

Parents and Year 12 students are asked to attend a VTAC information session where student are supported in the tertiary courses selection and application process.

A career newsletter is emailed to all Year 10, 11 and 12 students each fortnight, informing them about tertiary opportunities, information sessions and general career events.

Teaching and non-teaching staff are all part of the Pastoral Care Team. Pastoral Care is supported by, but not the sole responsibility of the Chaplain and Student Welfare Officer. This team wants to ensure students are happy and secure in whatever activity they are taking part in, whether social, spiritual, mental, emotional or physical. We have a caring commitment to guide and advise our pupils, equipping them with the skills needed to face the outside world.
