Pittwater House is an independent, secular school offering a well-rounded private school education to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12.

Our innovative structure provides your child the best of both worlds, in a learning environment combining predominantly single-gender classes on one co-educational campus.

We maintain a modest student population to ensure that each individual is seen, known and cared for, so our staff can develop a true understanding of your child’s abilities, talents and needs – both inside and outside the classroom.

In the classroom, our highly qualified teachers use explicit teaching, where lessons are clearly structured, concepts are taught step-by-step, and students receive direct guidance and feedback.

Outside the classroom, we offer students an array of co-curricular opportunities to cater to a diverse range of interests and abilities, most of which take place on our large campus.

Pittwater House offers your child countless ways to develop and thrive.

We use explicit teaching – a research-based method where lessons are clearly structured, concepts are taught step-by-step, and students receive direct guidance and feedback. This approach reduces confusion, builds confidence, and leads to stronger outcomes across all year levels.

Every lesson is designed to maximise focus and minimise distraction, helping students stay engaged and absorb knowledge more effectively.

We believe exceptional teaching starts with a culture of ongoing learning.

This commitment to excellence lifts the standard of every classroom, and strengthens the relationships that make learning thrive.
Pittwater House has a large 3.5 hectare campus offering playgrounds and leisure spaces for all ages, from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. We have a broad range of facilities onsite including a pool, a multipurpose playing field, numerous playgrounds, the Great Hall, outdoor courts, an indoor sports complex, the Performing Arts Precinct with tutor rooms and a Performing Arts Centre, creative art rooms and a health centre staffed by a Registered Nurse.

We also offer a before and after school club onsite for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.
Our unique twin schooling approach offers single-gender classes on a co-educational campus.

It gives your child all the advantages of gender-specific teaching combined with the many social benefits of a co-educational campus.

Although our Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Year 1 classes are fully co-educational, our Year 2 to Year 6 students participate in single-gender learning for most of their subjects. That is, separate classrooms are designated for boys and girls within the same school, while both study the same curriculum.

In Years 7 and 8, all classes are taught in single-gender classes, with teachers utilising gender-based strategies to optimise learning and confidence.

In Years 9 and 10, students participate in co-educational classes for three elective subjects, but continue to have single-gender classes for English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).

By Years 11 and 12, all classes including Form classes are co-educational, to prepare students for life after school.

Children learn best when they feel safe, seen and supported, so wellbeing is embedded into every day.

Our pastoral classes, age-appropriate wellbeing programs, beloved Buddy Program, the Service Learning Program and leadership pathways build compassionate, community-minded boys and girls and a nurturing environment where students build their confidence, emotional literacy and meaningful friendships.

With experienced educators, on-site health professionals and a personalised approach to care, we help every child feel valued, connected and ready to thrive.

Our 'HEROIC' mnemonic represents our Core Values - the intention of all we aspire to be each day, as members of the Pittwater House community.
H - Honesty and Integrity
E - Excellence
R - Respect and Care
O - Origins
I - Innovation
C - Community

We run a private service of five buses for families living on the North Shore and in the North Beaches who are not served by commercial or governmental transport.

These buses service families living between the school and Avalon, Forestville, Manly, Mosman and St Ives.

Pittwater House offers partial scholarships to students for outstanding academic potential and general excellence (creative arts and sports).

We offer a limited number of general excellence and academic excellence scholarships to students entering Years 7, 9 and 11.

Pittwater House offers partial scholarships for tuition fees only. Incidentals and all other expenses are charged at the usual rate. Please see our School Fees for more information.

Scholarships are open to current students of Pittwater House as well as students attending other schools. Applicants must be Australian residents.

Principal's Image

I thank you for considering Pittwater House for your child.

At Pittwater House there is a great spirit of friendliness, mutual respect and recognition of achievement, all reflected in the school motto 'semper diligens' — Latin for always hardworking.

I am proud to be leading a school that offers a truly unique, balanced and nurturing approach to education from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. The School's philosophy is based on providing single-sex education within a co-educational environment. We offer modest class sizes and a focus on academic growth.

We specifically focus on the development of each and every child at Pittwater House. This approach mirrors my own principles, which are focused on cultivating student potential, encouraging strong personal values and creating well-rounded young people.

To learn more about our wonderful School, I encourage you to speak to our Registrar to book a Zoom Q&A with me.

I hope to meet you soon.

Kind regards,

Dr Nancy Hillier
