Intelligent. Confident. Active.
I am delighted to welcome you to St Patrick’s College Townsville, an independent Catholic girls’ secondary college, established by the Sisters of Mercy on the values of their founder, Catherine McAuley. As a Mercy community, we strive to live out the values of compassion, respect, integrity, justice, hope and joy in all that we do.
The College enjoys a strong reputation as a school of choice for young women of the North, with an expert teaching team, an outstanding pastoral care system and an innovative, inclusive and positive learning culture designed especially for girls, encouraging them to be creative, collaborative and reflective.
We offer an intimate environment with a stunning waterfront location, where our girls are supported to have the courage of their convictions to do more and be more than they ever thought possible; and in doing so, leave our College as confident, hopeful, purposeful young women, leaders and agents of change who demonstrate ambition and compassion.
Our state of the art facilities, overlooking the ocean and set amongst lush tropical gardens, allow our young women to explore the many academic, cultural and sporting opportunities available to them.
Generations of extraordinary women have been educated at St Patrick's College Townsville both as day students and as boarders since the late 1800s. They are justly proud of their alma mater and remain strongly connected to the College through various networking events and activities, offering unique opportunities to inspire and mentor our current students.
To experience our unique and beautiful learning community, please feel free to contact us at any time to arrange a personalised tour of our campus and facilities, or come along to our twilight open evening held each year in March.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our College community.

College Master Plan - Stage I East Precinct
JANUARY 2020 UPDATE
Building for the Future – Honouring the Past
History is in the making at St Patrick’s College Townsville, as strong enrolment growth has driven the construction of a contemporary performing arts, library and learning precinct.
In February 2018, the Sisters of Mercy officially transferred their Strand site to the College, with full approval for the redevelopment of the land to cater for the growth of the school. “We are committed to building for the future while honouring our past” said College Principal, Ms Amber Hauff. “As a Mercy community, we strive to live out the values of our founder Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy in all that we do. To have been given custodianship of this site from the Sisters is an enormous honour. We wholeheartedly embrace their vision for the College in continuing to build a futures-focused education designed especially for girls, whilst paying homage to our traditions that continue to remain a central focus in all that we do.”
The new building has been uniquely designed to incorporate the roof lines of significant and memorable buildings formerly on the site. An architectural filigree veil will shroud the façade of the completed structure resembling Irish lace, and embossed with three symbols – the shamrock, the Mercy rose and the Mercy cross - paying homage to the Irish Sisters of Mercy who established the College.
Featuring an 800 seat performing arts auditorium, a state-of-the art library and nine classrooms to cater for dance, drama, music and hospitality, the East Precinct is now well underway and on track with construction expected to be completed by mid-2020. The additional classrooms and contemporary facilities will continue to support the College’s strong growth and focus on the creative and performing arts over the past few years.
St Patrick’s College Townsville looks forward to the continuing support of the local community throughout this exciting project. We are making every effort to provide regular progress updates via our College Facebook page and website news. A time-lapse camera installed on the site will capture every stage of this historic project.
“We are enormously excited to share our vision of the College with Townsville.” Said Ms Hauff. “The end result will be a stunning, architecturally designed space for our community to learn, grow and flourish together”.
