"Ad Summam Virtutem" — Educating Towards the Fullness of Virtue
Raising daughters of strength, virtue and faith is one of the most important missions a parent can undertake. Yet in today’s fast-moving world, even the most devoted families can feel uncertain—wondering how to nurture resilience and conviction in their daughters amid shifting values and competing voices.
At Tangara, we understand that your hopes for your daughter reach far beyond academic achievement. You want her to grow into a young woman who lives with integrity, guided by faith and a clear sense of purpose. We believe this is not only possible, but most powerfully realised when schools and families work in genuine partnership.
Tangara, the flagship school of the Pared Foundation (Pared) (a network of Independent Catholic schools) was founded in 1982 inspired by Saint Josemaría Escrivá, who believed that authentic education is about formation, the integral development of the whole person. He encouraged parents to establish schools that support their role as the first and most influential educators, and to seek schools where faith, character and learning are deeply interwoven. That vision continues today in over 200 schools around the world, including Tangara.
Rooted in Catholic teaching, Tangara is among the first schools in Australia to pioneer a personalised approach to education that places the family at the centre of a student’s formation. Our one-on-one Mentoring System, strong academic foundation, and rich spiritual life are designed to support students in every aspect of their development.
We’re not just educating girls, we’re forming future women of thoughtfulness, strength and conviction. Women who will lead, uplift and make a difference with courage and humility. Together, your leadership at home and our partnership at school form a foundation your daughter can rely on—one that will help her grow into the best that she can be.
Curriculum
Tangara’s curriculum is based on the classical liberal arts tradition, opening minds and hearts to the very best of human civilisation. It harmonises intellectual, cultural, spiritual, human and physical development.
Tangara embraces an enquiry based learning style, inspired by the Visible Thinking approach developed by researchers at Harvard University. Students are encouraged to investigate, probe, explore and appreciate diverse view points in the classroom.
Our teachers challenge the students with life's most important questions. Our students learn to think independently, read critically, reason carefully, argue logically and love the truth.
Your daughter’s wellbeing is central to everything we do at Tangara. We believe girls thrive when they feel safe, respected, and genuinely known and loved by the people around them.
Your daughter’s wellbeing is central to everything we do at Tangara. We believe girls thrive when they feel safe, respected, and genuinely known and loved by the people around them. From day-to-day classroom interactions to our 1:1 Mentoring System, all aspects of life at Tangara is intentionally designed to support your daughter’s social, emotional and spiritual growth. Our teachers, mentors, and leadership team work closely to create a school culture built on trust and care. Every child is seen and supported.
We recognise that each student’s path is unique. While many needs are met through the strong relationships formed with staff and mentors, additional care is available when needed. Our school counsellor offers confidential guidance and support, working collaboratively with families and staff to help students navigate challenges and build emotional resilience. Where additional support is needed beyond the school environment, we’re here to walk alongside families, offering direction and encouragement as they seek the right professional care.
Spiritual wellbeing is also at the heart of our approach. Our Chaplaincy provides opportunities for students to reflect, grow in faith, and receive pastoral care through daily Mass, confession, and personal conversations with the Chaplain.
Whether it’s a reassuring word from a mentor, a moment of support in the classroom, or a quiet conversation about life and faith, your daughter is never alone at Tangara. Our approach to wellbeing is relational, responsive, and deeply personal.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Tangara School for Girls. Having three daughters of my own, I understand the importance of selecting a school that works in partnership with you through your most important task in life - parenting.
Since 1982, Tangara has offered families and their children a total educational experience unlike any other through our unique one-on-one Mentoring System. Combined with a strong academic foundation, this system differs markedly from arrangements offered in other schools by enabling a true partnership between school and parents in the development of their children.
Tangara is built on the belief that the best education develops the whole person by integrating the pursuit of academic excellence and learning of diverse skills with building character and developing faith. We inspire young women to embrace leadership and thrive in all areas of life through our outstanding academics and co-curricular opportunities in sport, music, drama, public speaking, community service, leadership and much more.
Our mission is summed up best in our school motto: Ad Summam Virtutem, Towards the Fullness of Virtue. Please join us at our next Open Day where you can meet our students, our dedicated staff and see our wonderful school in action.
