BGS also offers over 30 clubs and activities where boys can explore special interests such as aviation or lapidary;Â engage in thinking beyond the classroom, such as Future Problem Solving or Grammar Engineers;Â or where they are encouraged to become better global citizens, such as Greening Grammar or Closing the Gap.
A Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) education sets its graduates on a path to success in a range of endeavours. An independent, non-denominational day and boarding school for boys, BGS has been a leader in education in Australia since its foundation in 1868. The School is located on the edge of Brisbane CBD and caters to 1700 boys from Years 5 to 12, including more than 80 boarders.
Underpinned by values of learning, leadership, endeavour, respect and community, BGS educates boys by nurturing their intellectual, physical, and emotional wellbeing to become thoughtful, confident men of character who contribute to their communities.
Incredible facilities — such as the state-of-the-art Lilley Centre, Indoor Sports Centre with Olympic-size pool, gymnastics facility and basketball courts — balance beautifully with historical architecture that dates back to the School’s early days. BGS also boasts a number of exceptional off-campus facilities, including the Northgate Playing Fields, the Outdoor Education Centre at Lake Moogerah, Rowing Boatshed and Tennis Centre.
Boarding students are made to feel part of a House ‘family’ and are kept busy through a variety of programs, which include everything from academic and activities enrichment to public purpose and learning life skills.
Please visit our website for detailed information about our programs and educational philosophy.
Our student wellbeing programs support and develop our students' emotional resilience and intelligence. A coordinator of student well-being oversees the implementation of these programs from Years 5 to 12. Our programs assist boys to make sense of their world and their connections to it.
