Camberwell Grammar School has long been one of Melbourne’s leading independent schools for boys. We are proud of the warm spirit that characterises our school family. The school has established a climate in which the potential for boys to achieve to the best of their ability is nurtured. In keeping with this, there is a strong tradition of high academic performance with an open entry policy. We are also committed to the traditions of a rounded liberal education. Consequently, the program encourages all students to develop themselves in a range of areas and activities whether they be academic, in the arts or on the sporting field.
A rich co-curricular offering includes a wide range of sports while cultural life at the school has long had a high profile through an extensive music program. The school also undertakes a number of dramatic productions each year.
Students are cared for as individuals with differing abilities, interests and goals. Skilled professionals work to further the self-esteem of each boy and his capacity to meet the rigorous demands of learning in an academic environment. The pastoral care structure focuses on the year group in the Junior and Middle Schools and the House system in the Senior School where each boy is assigned a Head of House and an individual tutor in a cross-age tutor group. The system is practical, building a bridge of understanding between the boy, his family and the school.
