Erasmus Primary School is an independent, non-denominational primary school that draws on some of the great philosophic traditions from around the world. Our focus is the cultivation of every aspect of our students – body, mind, heart and spirit. We offer philosophy, meditation and mindfulness as a way of nurturing all four aspects. All children and staff sit down together daily to eat a freshly prepared, vegetarian morning tea and lunch where children are taught to serve each other before serving themselves. We nurture the power of attention

At Erasmus Primary School, we recognise the power of attention as the master key to the development of our students. Focused attention brings stillness, intelligence, happiness, courage and every virtue that is needed for the discovery and development of each child’s talent – be it academic, artistic, physical or emotional. We use simple mindfulness exercises to help focus the mind and enable our students to develop an inner quiet, strength and steadiness. They are then able to attend to the task at hand with greater application.

We offer an ambitious and creative curriculum

An Erasmus education offers an ambitious and creative curriculum, designed to give each student the opportunity to thrive and flourish. Erasmus has an academic focus with consistently high academic results and a low student/teacher ratio. We provide a thorough, systematic grounding in Literacy and Numeracy. Other subjects include Philosophy, Thinking and Learning, Health & Physical Education, Sacred Geometry, Science, History and Geography. We take a classical approach to languages including studies in Sanskrit and Latin. A diverse palette of visual and performing arts programs includes Art, Music, Drama, Dance and activities such as Needlework and Woodwork. These pursuits greatly assist in the development of intellectual and cognitive skills, self-expression and fine and gross motor skills.
