ENCOURAGEMENT•DEVELOPMENT•SUCCESS

Kamaruka offers an alternative intervention program for boys from year 4 to year 10 (9yo to 15yo), exhibiting symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, low self-esteem, social/emotional disorders or for boys with learning difficulties who need more individual attention to achieve. The program has also proven to be very successful for boys who present with mild features of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Enrolments are accepted throughout the school year for boys with average or above average IQ. A three-day trial period prior to enrolment allows the school to gauge the suitability of the program to meet the student’s particular needs, as well as allowing the student to determine his ability to cope with the academic expectations and physical nature of the curriculum.
Behavioural management is an integral part of the curriculum, and includes a weekly social skills class as well as regular communication with parents to monitor home behaviour. Using a cognitive-behavioural approach to address unacceptable behaviour, students are taught strategies that can be used to manage their difficulty once they are integrated back into the mainstream education system.

Boys are encouraged to learn about how to manage their behaviour and adapt to life and learning situations that may not always be so accommodating to them.
The program offers a modified curriculum which includes English, mathematics, science, art, drama, instrumental music, social skills training, outdoor education, martial arts and swimming.

A DIVERSE AND INNOVATIVE CURRICULUM INCLUDING:
English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Drama, Instrumental Music, Social Skills,
Gymnastics, Kickboxing, Jiu-jitsu, Swimming and regular school camps.
