The St Mary’s College Library is very excited to announce that well-known Australian author, James Phelan, will be visiting our school in July 2017. This event will be a highlight on our 2017 Library Calendar. All year levels will be attending sessions during the visit, which will promote reading and effective writing skills to our students.
The two-day visit will encourage positive reading within our college community, while creating a greater self-confidence in our students as readers. We are looking forward to stimulating and thought-provoking conversations with James, leaving our students and staff with inspiration and understanding into books, reading and creative writing.
James Phelan grew up in Parkville, Melbourne, going to sleep to the sound of lions calling in the night at the Melbourne Zoo. His creative spirit was nurtured from a young age and he credits his overactive imagination to being exposed to authors such as Roald Dahl and Paul Jennings. James is an award-winning and bestselling author of twenty-seven novels and one work of non-fiction, including The Last Thirteen Series. He holds an MA and PhD in literature.
A passionate advocate of promoting literacy and a love of reading, James is a highly sought-after speaker at literary events and schools across all age levels. For more information about James, please go to his website http://www.jamesphelan.com.au/
