Our annual auditions are held for students who wish to be part of the senior performance team, primary performance team and extension programs. Auditions are not held for the middle school performance team as this is cocurricular and runs alongside our middle school excellence program. If students aspire to be involved in the middle school performance team, they should choose Dance Excellence as their excellence preference.
Our vision for the Kimberley College Dance Program is one of passion, growth and commitment to excellence. We wish to provide students with the opportunity to express their artistic flair, and provide them with a creative outlet to foster their passion for dance. Students will be part of a fun loving and safe learning environment and have the opportunity to be involved in a number of dance experiences in different contexts. Teaching students to experiment with movement and push past their comfort zone will encourage growth and innovation as a dancer. Through focusing on basic technique, development and performance experience, students will be encouraged to strive for excellence in this field. The program will align with the schools philosophy, teaching student’s critical and creative thinking as well as developing technical and expressive skills. Collaboration and team work are at the forefront of our program enabling students to learn how to work with others respectfully and professionally. The program will teach students to appreciate dance as an art form and way of self-expression. The Kimberley College Dance Program is inclusive of all Kimberley College students and provides opportunities at a class level as well as extra-curricular.
AUDITION INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS
WHERE: All auditions will be held in our school dance studio at the college.
WHEN: Thursday 17th October 2019
TIME PROGRAM
9.00 – 10.30AM Senior Performance Team Auditions – Lyrical and Contemporary
11.15 – 12.45pm Year 7 – 9 Extension Classes
1.30 – 3.00pm Senior Performance Team Auditions – Jazz
DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Please ensure hair is done neatly and pulled back. Students are required to wear stirrup tights (in any style) black or KC dance leggings and a black or KC dance singlet. Students auditioning for the senior performance jazz team should wear black lace less jazz shoes to the audition. Students will need to bring a water bottle and a sweat towel. They will be dancing for the duration of the audition time. Students are not required to prepare anything for auditions.
THE ATTACHED AUDITION APPLICATION FORM NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT AND HANDED TO TEACHERS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE AUDITION. ONLY ONE FORM NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT FOR EACH STUDENT.
