In Junior School, a strong focus on literacy and numeracy builds the knowledge and skills girls need for future learning. As they progress, they develop curiosity, learn to collaborate, solve problems and become increasingly independent thinkers.
Teaching across the School is grounded in the Science of Learning. Regular assessment helps teachers identify when girls need additional support or greater challenge, with learning opportunities ranging from targeted intervention to enrichment and acceleration.

Differentiated learning allows St Hilda’s to respond through intervention, support, enrichment and acceleration.
As girls progress into Senior School, they are given increasing independence, subject choice and guidance to explore where their strengths and interests might take them.
Through [Pathways and Possibilities](https://www.sthildas.wa.edu.au/senior-school/pathways-possibilities/), girls and families are supported to make informed decisions about Years 11 and 12 and life beyond School.
Senior students can pursue ATAR or blended pathways, with options that may include General and ATAR courses, Certificate qualifications, workplace learning, endorsed programs, university preparation opportunities and vocational education through external providers.
Opportunities such as Pre Medicine, Pre Law, financial literacy and Future Pathways further help girls explore possible careers, understand their options and build confidence in the decisions they make about their future.
The aim is not to place every girl on the same path. It is to help each girl understand her strengths, keep meaningful options open and choose a pathway that aligns with her goals.
The Chidley Junior School campus is a dedicated three hectare campus for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Year 6. Designed specifically for younger girls, it offers extensive green and outdoor spaces, nature play and playground areas, as well as its own oval and basketball, netball and tennis courts.
The campus gives girls room to move, explore and learn beyond the classroom, while purpose-designed learning environments support strong academic foundations, creativity and collaboration.
The Bay View Senior School campus combines contemporary learning facilities with extensive green space and specialist environments for academic, creative and sporting pursuits.
Facilities include the 900 seat Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre, specialist science and technology spaces, Music and creative arts facilities, sporting facilities and an aquatic centre featuring a 50 metre swimming pool.
Together, the campuses provide girls with access to high quality facilities while retaining the open spaces and strong sense of community that are central to everyday School life.
Cocurricular Activities
St Hilda’s offers an extensive cocurricular program before, during and after School, giving girls opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents and try something new.
Senior School girls can choose from more than 75 activities, while Junior School offers around 40 opportunities across Sport, Music, Dance, Drama, clubs, committees, community service, Cadets and other areas.
Some activities are led by St Hilda’s staff, while others are delivered by specialist external providers, broadening the range of experiences available to girls.
With opportunities available across the School week, cocurricular life also helps girls build friendships, confidence, teamwork, independence and practical leadership skills.
Boarding at St Hilda's
St Hilda’s welcomes up to 120 boarders from Years 7 to 12, with girls joining the School from regional Western Australia, interstate and overseas.
All boarders live under one roof at the heart of the Senior School campus, creating a strong sense of community across year groups. With substantial cohorts of girls in each year, boarders have plenty of opportunities to form friendships with girls who share different interests, experiences and personalities.
The Dean of Boarding lives on campus, providing a consistent and visible presence for girls and families. She is supported by experienced boarding staff, including designated supervisors for each boarding area, as well as school psychologists, the Chaplain, nurses and academic tutors.
Academic support is built into boarding life through structured and supervised evening study, access to tutors and the School’s Tute Centre.
Weekends are active and social, with a dedicated recreation team coordinating activities both on and off campus. Girls might take part in movie nights, cooking competitions, beach visits, shopping trips, excursions, activities with other boarding schools or make use of facilities including the pool, gym and sports centre. As girls move through the year levels, they are given increasing independence for approved outings.
The St Hilda's boarding experience combines strong academic support, close pastoral care, friendship, independence and full participation in school life.
Pastoral Care
Parents want to know that their daughter will be known, noticed and supported, particularly when something is not going well.
At St Hilda’s, pastoral care is built around strong relationships and a network of adults who know the girls well.
In Junior School, classroom teachers are central to a girl’s day to day care and are often the first to notice changes in confidence, friendships, behaviour or learning. They work closely with families and Junior School leaders, with access to additional support when needed.
As girls move into Senior School, support becomes more structured around homerooms, Heads of Year and the Dean of Student Wellbeing. Heads of Year monitor each cohort closely, including wellbeing, friendships, attendance, academic progress and transition through the School. They work with teachers, families, School psychologists, nurses, the Chaplain and other specialist staff when a girl needs further support.
This means support can range from an everyday conversation with a trusted teacher through to more coordinated assistance when a girl is experiencing friendship difficulties, academic pressure, anxiety, family change or another challenge.
Pastoral care is also proactive. Through age appropriate wellbeing learning, girls develop skills and understanding around friendships, respectful relationships, digital safety, self management, resilience, help seeking and preparation for life beyond School.
Underpinning this is a strong Girls Lifting Girls culture, where girls are encouraged to look out for one another, celebrate each other’s achievements and ask for help when they need it.

In Year 3, Little Wanderers helps girls build connection, kindness and confidence at an important stage in their development.
Through shared experiences and guided activities, girls begin to think about how they contribute to a group, how they support others and what it means to show early leadership.
Wandering Spirit
Wandering Spirit is a defining Year 9 experience based at St Hilda’s Yeagarup campus near Pemberton.
Over an extended residential experience, girls step away from everyday routines and spend time reflecting on identity, values, relationships, strengths and goals.
The experience helps girls build independence, resilience, self awareness and stronger connections with others during a pivotal stage of adolescence.
Entrepreneurship
Through St Hilda’s distinctive entrepreneurship program, girls learn to work collaboratively, solve real world problems, test ideas and adapt when something does not go to plan.
They develop initiative, creativity, communication and the confidence to turn ideas into action.
Entrepreneurship also gives girls practical opportunities to experience leadership in action by listening to others, contributing ideas, making decisions and learning from setbacks.

Transport Options to get to St Hilda's
Located in Mosman Park, St Hilda’s is accessible to families across the Perth metropolitan area.
The School offers private bus services through Horizons West, with routes servicing a range of northern, central and southern suburbs. Families can also access Transperth bus and train services, including connections to Mosman Park train station.
For families with children attending other nearby schools, selected bus routes include convenient stops near Scotch College and Christ Church Grammar School.

International girls whose parents are not residing with them in Perth live in the St Hilda’s Boarding House, located at the heart of the Senior School campus.
Welcoming girls from Years 7 to 12, the Boarding House provides a supportive residential community where girls can develop friendships, build independence and participate fully in School life.
