Please feel free to take a virtual Tour of our College. We are excited with all the new buildings currenlty under construction.
Our college is expanding with a new extension to the Administration building and the development of a Music and Arts building due for completion by end of 2022.
St James began operation for the first time in January 2003. The College was established to provide a service for those parents who wanted a quality independent education for their child in a caring, Christian environment.
St James is a College of the Lutheran Church of Australia and as such joins with over 100 other education institutions that go to make up Lutheran Education Australia.
Our mission at St James Lutheran College is to serve our community through the provision of high quality education in a caring Christ-centred environment; empowering our students to shape a better world.
We hope that we can join you in partnership in achieving this mission at our College.
A child’s experience at school helps to lay the foundation for success in life. Catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, the staff of St James believe that they work in partnership with parents to provide this foundation. Students are encouraged to develop to the best of their potential in a caring environment where each child is valued as an individual.
Should you wish for information regarding the St James Lutheran Kindergarten simply let our office staff know and they will provide that for you as well.

St James Lutheran College is a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Our approach to education reflects the teachings of the Lutheran Church and its endeavour to fulfill Christ’s command to go into the world and present the Good News to others, and to give them opportunities to respond to God’s Word.
At St James we seek to help each individual student realise their full potential and develop the talents they have been given. We are committed to providing our students with the opportunity to develop the ‘Lifelong Qualities for Learners’ outlined in Lutheran Education Australia’s Framework for Lutheran Schools:
Attributes and Abilities – individuals who contribute to communities by being self-directed, insightful learners; discerning, resourceful problem solvers and implementers; adept, creative producers and contributors; open, responsive communicators and facilitators; principled, resilient leaders and collaborators; and caring, steadfast supporters and advocates.
To support this mission statement and philosophy, St James Lutheran College aims to:
Mr. Care a hit at St James
As a school student, it's always good to have your teacher care about you. For the Year Three's at St James Lutheran College, they're receiving an extra measure of care and attention at the moment, with student teacher Mr. Dylan Care joining Mrs. Sharon Bentley in the Year 3 classroom.
“The kids were really excited when I told them that the teacher who’d be coming was named Mr. Care,” said Mrs. Bentley. “They all thought he’d be really caring – and they were right!” she said. “He’s built up an excellent rapport with the kids; not just the Year Three’s, but the children in other grades as well. He gets out onto the oval at lunchtime, and plays soccer with them all. He’s a real hit,” she added.
Dylan Care is in his third year at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He is completing a six-week Prac. at St James, and is set to finish next week.
“He’s teaching a Science Unit at the moment, all about heating solids and liquids. The children are really loving it, and they’re learning so much,” said Mrs. Bentley. “It will be sad to see him go.”
