Our Story
St Kevin’s College is a Catholic ELC to Year 12 College for boys in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice. St Kevin’s has established itself as a leading Catholic school in Melbourne in academic excellence and co-curricular pursuits, with a strong emphasis on social justice and faith in action.
The College strives for the development of the whole person, integrating spiritual development, academic success, cultural awareness and sporting participation in the context of the Catholic tradition, where students have a voice and agency. St Kevin’s has developed a strong academic tradition where each student is encouraged to take responsibility for his own learning in an environment that values knowledge, effort and resilience.
St Kevin’s is a member of the Associated Public Schools of Victoria, through which the College participates in, and offers a comprehensive range of competitive sports with other APS schools.
The College promotes a genuine commitment to social service, a commitment to student voice and leadership, and a commitment to offer a holistic education that aims to build character and develop students to grow in the fullness of life in our contemporary world.
Our Past, Our Future
“If we fail to adapt, we fail to move forward” – John Wooden.
From humble beginnings more than 100 years ago on Albert Street, East Melbourne, to five campuses across Melbourne, St Kevin’s College continues to grow and adapt as it strives to educate boys to build a better world. When Archbishop Mannix first opened the school in 1918, one could not have imagined the influence of its graduates across many fields through the years. And yet, while the College rightfully celebrates the many successes of Old Collegians and the great advancements to its facilities, the new 10-year Master Plan communicates the necessity of creating contemporary learning environments to prepare students for a changing world, while also aiding a holistic, flourishing learning and working environment.
St Kevin’s College is a liberating Catholic school that is steadfast in its commitment to academic rigour in all learning and teaching in addition to concurrently promoting positive cultural, social and ethical behaviours. The College is focused on wellbeing for learning and life to ensure a culture of respect for all students, staff and families. A focus on being an inclusive community for the common good also ensures St Kevin’s College will continue to identify and respond to the opportunities for educational innovation and honour diversity and inclusion well into the future.
