Cadets
St Paul’s School Army Cadet Unit provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership skills. St Paul’s is one of only a few Queensland schools with a Cadet Unit. Students participate in various leadership forums of a theoretical nature as well a range of outdoor activities such as unit training, ceremonial parades and camping. Students also have the opportunity to complete a Duke of Edinburgh Award through Cadets.
Chess
Students get the chance to pit their chess skills against fellow students and other schools. The St Paul’s Chess Club is fully equipped with match size chess sets and clocks. It also boasts an outdoor, full size chess set for students to access at lunchtimes which is played by Junior, Middle and Senior School students.
Dance
Dance is a pursuit that has a long tradition at St Paul’s School. The combination of state-of-the-art facilities (The Walker Centre) and a close relationship with Dance Directions has afforded many students the chance to flourish through training and performance. Dance can be engaged with through direct involvement with Dance Directions and also through curricular opportunities in the Junior School and as an elective in Years 7, 8 and 9.
Debating
St Paul’s debating teams compete as part the Queensland Debating Union and Circuit Debating Society. Students of all ages have the opportunity to compete and learn valuable skills; particularly the ability to think on their feet.
Drama
Drama is offered to students in Middle and Senior School and provides a multitude of performance opportunities including plays, musicals and tours. Our recently opened, state of the art Performing Arts Centre provides our Drama students with exceptional opportunities to perform their works.
Photography Club
The St Paul’s Photography Club is an interactive, photography-based club. Members are involved in photographing all major events on the St Paul’s School Calendar as well as exploring their own creativity in the photographic medium.
Interact
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people in Middle and Senior School. Our Interact club is sponsored by Pine Rivers Rotary Club, and each year students complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.

Paul Compton
Class of 1981
Paul graduated from St Paul’s in 1981 and is now working in New York City as Global Head of Banking and Co-President of Barclays Bank. Paul follows the success of St Paul’s and its students closely and is a strong supporter of the School’s Centre for Innovators and Entrepreneurs. While at St Paul’s, Paul was a strong academic achiever and a member of the First XV Rugby team.
Claire Morris
Class of 2008
Claire graduated from St Paul’s in 2008 and has since completed undergraduate degrees in Economics and Law. She has worked at a large commercial law firm as a privacy and technology lawyer and is currently studying her Master of Laws at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
While at St Paul’s, Claire was School Captain, and received academic gold awards in biology and economics. She was also a member of the School’s Big Band and an excellent tennis player.
Stefanie Jones
Class of 2008
Stefanie Jones is a talented actress with a successful career in Musical Theatre having played leading roles in many popular musicals including The Sound of Music, Muriel’s Wedding The Musical and is set to play Mary Poppins in the 2022 Australian production.
Mackenzie Ravn
Class of 2010
After leaving St Paul’s School Mackenzie received a scholarship to study at Bond University where she graduated with a Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. Mackenzie spent 5 years as a journalist with the Gold Coast Bulletin and is now a Crime Reporter for 7 News Brisbane.
Mackenzie is also an advocate for Endometriosis Australia, an organisation raising awareness and funds for the research to help those living with Endometriosis.
Tim Hadwen
Class of 2011
Tim is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Micromelon Robotics, a robotics education company. According to Tim, his organisation “provides robots for use in the classroom to help students and teachers learn programming skills.” Tim has reconnected with St Paul’s thanks to our Centre for Innovators and Entrepreneurs.

Harry Baldwin
Class of 2020
Harry Baldwin has signed to attend Sterling College in Kansas USA on a basketball scholarship beginning in 2022.
DR Ji Hyun (Julia) Yang
Class of 2007
Ji Hyun YANG was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Medicine at UQ in 2020. Ji Hyun began her St Paul’s School journey when she arrived from South Korea in 2003. Ji Hyun commenced her studies in the St Paul’s High School Preparation Program and graduated Year 12 in 2007. Ji Hyun is now working as a Postdoctoral Research Officer at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research, based in the Dementia and Neuro Mental Health Research Unit.
Hannah Hering
Class of 2018
Hannah is in her third year of Medical Raditaion at QUT and has been awarded for achieving the highest results in her cohort. Hannah has just applied for, and been accepted into the research honours program next year where she will be completing research into paediatric radiation of blood cancers and techniques to minimise the impact of whole body radiation.
Annabel Keir
Class of 2017
Annabel has recently been awarded the top prize at the annual Queensland CEC student paper presentations for Medical Imaging. Her experimental research project, conducted through QUT’s honours program, won best presentation of the night. Annabel was awarded with a trip to Cairns in 2022 to present at the National Conference for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the student research category. Her project is titled, “Together or Separate: What is best practice when imaging bilateral hands for rheumatoid arthritis examinations?” Annabel will graduate with a Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Honours) at the end of the year.
Dr Alexander Browning
Class of 2012
Dr Alexander Browning is an applied mathematician, lecturer, and researcher. Following his time at St Paul’s, he applied his self-taught programming, digital media, and entrepreneurial skills to several independent business ventures, from media production to private tutoring. Dr Browning now applies creative, mathematical, approaches to challenging problems in the life sciences, from antibiotic resistance and clinical treatment design, to bio-inspires materials. His passion for innovation inspires his teaching, and he has been recognised by the international mathematical community for his research. Dr Browning is currently a research fellow in the Mathematical Institute and Wolfson College of the University of Oxford.
Georgia Woolley
Class of 2020
After graduating from St Paul’s, Georgia went to study and play basketball at the University at Buffalo in New York, where she has been described as a ‘consistent presence, averaging 14.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game’. Georgia has been named MAC Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement for Georgia who is only in her first year at the University at Buffalo.
Anthony Coates
Class of 2017
Anthony Coates is an internationally recognized speaker and Lego Master who entertains and captivates minds to reimagine what’s possible. In 2021, Anthony represented Queensland in Channel 9’s LEGO Masters Australia competition. Anthony is now pursuing his passion as a Lego artist, creating custom portraits made entirely out of Lego bricks in his new business, AJ Captivations.
Moses Maye Athian
Class of 2012
Inspired by the possibilities of an entrepreneurial career, in 2013 Moses started an event company called MOB Entertainment, and by mid-2014 he had sold this business and reinvested the return into a new business: Soignè Event services. By the end of 2016, Moses and a group of fellow St Paul’s alumni hope to launch another business focusing on the retail and fashion industry.
Evan Stanley
Class of 2017
Evan Stanley graduated from St Paul’s in 2017 and pursued a vocational pathway by applying for an associate degree in Civil Engineering through Qld TAFE. Thanks to some strong early performances, Evan was able to chart a bridging course to eventually study Engineering at QUT. Evan will soon boast both an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours. Evan plans to utilise this skillset and qualifications by eventually starting his own civil engineering business.
Regan Jones
Class of 1993
Regan’s entrepreneurial spirit was born early with his keen interest in change management, continuous improvement, and left of centre thinking which has resulted in numerous successful management ventures. With a blossoming management career in the world of Oil and Gas, Regan has recently seized an opportunity to venture into the realm of true entrepreneurism, developing a totally self funded and self designed start up venture. Working with a team of developers, he has released an App for away from home workers to stay more connected with family and friends. Regan’s passion continues with his ongoing communication with his customers, resulting in the continuous improvement of his App, ‘One Minute Closer’, which now has over 3000 active users and a network that is growing by the day.

At St Paul’s School, we are deeply committed to nurturing the holistic development of our students, ensuring their academic excellence, personal growth, wellbeing, and a strong sense of community pride. As part of this commitment, we offer a variety of excellence scholarships. These scholarships empower students to develop their unique talents, explore their passions, and grow as individuals.
Specialist scholarships
Specialist scholarships are for students that excel in their chosen area of specialty.
There are three specialist scholarship categories for 2026.
Performing Arts Scholarships for students who excel in music, drama or dance.
Sport Scholarships for students who excel in any given sport.
Vocational Scholarships for students commencing in Year 10 who are wishing to follow a vocational educational pathway in Years 11 and 12.
Students wishing to apply for a specialist scholarship must:
Sit the academic scholarship exam
Complete a specialist scholarship application form and return to the Principal with required supporting documentation.
Details of the application process and criteria are included in the information pack linked below.
Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview or audition with the Principal.
Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer from the Principal.

Step 2: Register for academic scholarship exam
The scholarship exam will be held on Saturday 22 March, at St Paul’s School.
Applications are to be submitted to the Principal by 4:00pm, Friday 14 March 2025. Applications closed.
Indigenous scholarships
Provide scholarship funding for members of the community with Indigenous heritage who may not have the financial means. Full or part scholarships are offered to Indigenous students to cover the cost of tuition at St Paul’s School.
