Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Grammar School. I am the new Principal of Sunshine Coast Grammar School since January 2022.
Sunshine Coast Grammar School is a leading co-educational, Christian learning environment catering for students from Prep to Year 12. We know that working in partnership with the family will cement a positive and fulfilling educational experience for your son or daughter. The cornerstone of a child’s successful transition into a new school and subsequently building their life here at Grammar is about open communication and strong relationships between the school and the family.
Much educational research focuses on the importance of the teacher in assisting students to achieve. We invest in our greatest resources – the people. We encourage professional excellence in all staff. Teachers who are the leaders in their field, committed to their purpose of educating young people, and who are genuinely passionate about their work.
We strive for all at Grammar to be the best they can be.
Sunshine Coast Grammar School has always recognised and embraced digital technologies as an important educational tool. In 2013 Grammar launched our digital 1:1 technology program equipping students with tablet computers to further support and enhance innovation, creativity and 21st century teaching and learning. We must be contemporary in our practices and thinking if we are to educate and support students in a hyperconnected world. At the same time our foundations of strong, positive relationships are at the heart of all we do, as we want our students to be ethical, responsible, caring citizens of the world whose opportunities in education give them the platform to step into amazing futures.
Wherever you are in your educational decision making journey – perhaps at the New Leaf Early Learning stage, Secondary years or somewhere in between, we are delighted you are considering a Grammar education. We look forward to you being able to experience first- hand our vision for learning – Where Passion Meets Purpose.
Through our Curricular and Extra-Curricular Programs at SCGS, we have created an environment where learning is stimulating and fun, where opportunities to explore, try and participate are plentiful and where students grow in knowledge and in character.
Learning at Grammar is designed to ensure that all students have the opportunity to realise their personal interests and individual potential. Academically, students at SCGS consistently perform strongly confirming the School’s place as one of the top academic performers in the region.
In the sporting arena, our sporting teams have won Regional, State and Australian titles. The school also hosts several visiting interstate and overseas school teams during the course of each year. Likewise SCGS offers its students the opportunity to participate in interstate and overseas sports tours.
Students are encouraged to be involved in extensive music, outdoor, language, art, drama, clubs and public speaking programs.
Along with our academic and extra-curricular programs we encourage our students to look outwards to others and serve our community with passion and purpose. Through giving their time and energy, students throughout the school develop a strong sense of community engagement and build empathy for those less fortunate.
The Scholarship application process, with the exception of the Sporting Excellence Scholarship, occurs in March each year. The Scholarship examination is conducted in mid-March. The application process is via the School website and details are available on the website from February.
Applications for all Scholarships, with the exception of the Sporting Excellence Scholarship, close in March. Successful applicants are notified thereafter. Sporting Excellence Scholarships close mid-September. Scholarships awarded come into effect from the start of the following school year.
