At Westside . . .

As the oldest Christian Independent School in Queensland, it is the culture of Westside that makes it such a terrific place. There's a special spirit here. Each student matters; known by name, with likes and dislikes, passions and aspirations, fears and struggles. Our enthusiastic staff are committed to providing rich learning experiences and encouragement to your child in and out of the classroom environment.

We strongly value academic rigour in learning achievements, cultural opportunities in the Creative Arts, physical extension in sports balanced by a variety of enriching extra-curricular experiences unique to Westside. We foster opportunities for service and leadership development in school and in the wider community and provide inspirational experiences for the personal and spiritual development of each of our students.

Parents and care-givers, we value your involvement in your children's educational journey. We would love to warmly welcome you and your family to Westside Christian College. We invite you to find out more today.

At Westside, our students are nurtured and pro-actively supported in learning – academically, emotionally and socially – so they achieve what they dream of most.

Through play, curiosity and problem-solving, our Kindy children develop a strong sense of well-being as they work together to learn about the world around them. Our Kindy curriculum is play-based, and Queensland Government approved.

In Prep and Junior Primary, dynamic and flexible learning opportunities foster independent thinking and confidence. Our Phonics program ensures our students can read – a vital skill to success. Early intervention for those students who have difficulty with their core basics ensures no child is left behind.

Building on the literacy and numeracy foundations of Junior Primary, Senior Primary offers students rich opportunities to learn skills of inquiry and experimenting, problem-solving, critical thinking, analysis and decision making, inventiveness, resilience, courage, confidence and leadership. Coupled with deepening connections with peers and staff, they are readied for the challenges of Secondary School.

Our Secondary school students operate in increasingly complex environments, developing important 21st century skills of creativity, collaboration and communication. Westside offers a broad range of educational pathways for success. In Years 11 and 12 all programs and assessment items are approved by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

For students who need additional academic, social or physical support the College offers various options of care for success in learning and life.

Being dedicated and passionate Christians, our staff teach from a Christian world view and inspire students in their own faith journey.
As part of providing multi-disciplinary innovative 21st Century learning spaces across our Primary & Secondary Campuses, we have embarked on ongoing building programs to cater for the changing landscape of education within our growing community.

2018 saw extensive redevelopment on the Prep and Primary Campus (buildings, sporting facilities and landscape environments). 2019 saw the opening of Stage 1 of our stunning state-of-the-art Secondary Campus Creative Industries Precinct. It is a Queensland fore-runner that embraces technology and co-operative learning spaces to offer students the exciting advantage of embracing 21st Century and key curriculum learning skills - collaboration, flexibility and the promotion of critical and creative thought.

This is a 'must see' on our annual Open Night in May and during our Open Day Tours throughout each year!

Welcome to Westside!

Westside Christian College has been partnering with parents for more than 45 years to ensure that their children receive a high-quality Christian education in an environment that nurtures and inspires so that they can realise their potential, know the grace of God, have life in abundance and be a blessing in the world.

All Westside staff are deeply committed to the holistic education and formation of our young people and to providing the best environment that we can so that our students are personally known, feel a sense of belonging and excel in their learning.

We believe each of our students is made in the image of God and brings a unique light into the world. We work hard to provide a broad range of academic pathways to cater for the diversity of student needs, aspirations and dreams.  We understand that different things energise, lift up and light up our young people so we offer a diverse range of cocurricular opportunities which bring them joy, support their wellbeing and growth and enrich their learning.

It is my great delight to serve in the Westside community as we walk alongside our students, helping them in their journey of discovery, learning and becoming.  We want to lift their eyes and their horizons, to realise they are loved more than they know, have far more potential than they think and can have more impact than they could imagine.

The Westside experience is unique and enduring, that’s why we have such a stable staff, why our graduates come back and why they send their children to also have the Westside experience.  We thank God for His goodness and blessing.

I encourage you to contact our enrolments staff, to talk with others and to visit so that you may get a sense of the Westside experience.  You would be most welcome.
