At Camberwell Girls Grammar School (CGGS), girls enjoy not only equal opportunity — they enjoy every opportunity. They fully participate in an environment where there are no boundaries. As a result, they whole-heartedly explore their passions and interests and together, create an environment of strong academic achievement.
We have designed wellbeing programs that enable our girls to be comfortable with who they are and not what they are expected to be. We aspire for our girls to mature into the best version of themselves in all areas of life, with an awareness of the needs of others as much as their own. Wellbeing is fundamental to positive academic and social growth. Our own model ensures that a respectful, safe, connected, nurturing and encouraging environment exists, so students can flourish in both academic and personal endeavours.
CGGS is constantly building new programs, experiences and opportunities both in and out of the classroom to ensure that our girls are fully prepared for their futures. The CGGS curriculum is diverse and challenging and it plays a significant role in assisting students to identify their interests and strengths. We recognise the vital importance of preparing girls for life and work in a rapidly changing world. Our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) program commences the moment girls arrive, and we offer learning in areas that have traditionally been male-dominated spheres.
CGGS doesn’t just want its students to use technology, it wants them to be creators of it. Coding is part of our teaching program and robots are permanent members of our community. Our Girls Invent Program and MakerSpace ensure that our students become motivated and creative inventors.
We know first-hand the benefits of a balanced lifestyle and therefore opportunities to participate in activities outside the classroom are endless. With over 70 offerings, including performing arts, sport, debating, design, special interest clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh Program, our girls are continually trying something new and discovering hidden strengths and talents.
Our students and staff all live the school motto, Utilis in Ministerium (Useful in Service). Students are empowered to lead with humility and inspired to make a difference by contributing to build a more just and sustainable world. Our Service Learning program and dedicated services classes encourage our girls to take action.
We are proud of our diverse, multicultural and highly inclusive community. From Early Learning to Year 12, everybody is welcome and everybody belongs.

Camberwell girls make friends for life... within their year level and across year levels. Strong relationships with teachers fosters a high level of support and guidance. Our Wellbeing Team have specifically developed a unique series of programs to ensure that each of our girls can establish her own identity, meet challenges confidently and find purpose and joy in all she does. This ultimately leads to the building of quality relationships, which in turn creates an extremely inclusive, connected and respectful community.
