Kilbreda College, in the heart of Bayside, Mentone, has been proudly educating young women in the Brigidine Tradition for over 119 years. Our motto, Strength and Kindliness, together with our college values of Compassion, Courage, Hope, Hospitality, Justice and Wonder, underpin every aspect of college life.

Our students will experience an education that is transformative, developing a growing capacity to engage with empathy and respond with love in the lives of one another, and within and beyond our community. We offer a particular focus on outreach to the marginalised and an emphasis on our moral and civic responsibilities as members of society, responding to the changing needs of our world. In addition, our mission is to inspire and empower through a tailored learning environment to cover various learning areas, purpose-built learning spaces, and an extensive co-curricular program with a commitment to STEM and sustainability.

At our college, we recognise that each young woman is unique, bringing different gifts, talents and individual needs with them. We are committed to ensuring that each student is known, challenged and supported spiritually, socially, academically and emotionally. With an emphasis on wellbeing, our tailored programs foster an inclusive, nurturing school culture that encourages a sense of pride, purpose and belonging.

The college provides an innovative curriculum for Years 7 to 10, which acknowledges, celebrates and values the experiences of students as they establish individual identities within community. In Years 11 and 12, students have two pathways to choose from the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Education: Vocational Major (VCE VM). This enables our students to choose the pathway best suited to their learning style and future pathway. A broad range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects are also offered onsite at the college; however, students can also access an extensive range of VCE VET subjects offsite as part of their academic program.

One of the unique programs at the college is the Year 9 BRIDGES program, which aims to develop an understanding of our ever-changing world. BRIDGES engages students in building resilience, independence, dependability and generosity while pursuing excellence and developing self-esteem.

The units are designed to encourage students to observe and analyse the challenges in our society and consider how they might contribute to positive change in their community. Through authentic learning experiences, students are supported to engage in deep learning and develop a personal commitment to justice in accordance with the vision and mission of the college. From 2021, students will also have the opportunity to complete the certified Community Engagement: Collaborating for Change course through the University of Michigan.

Through investigative inquiry and practical experiences, students develop a genuine heart attitude for justice and common good in society. The BRIDGES Program is rigorous and strategically planned, allowing for the development of skills to enable students to become leaders and change agents, using their voice to make a real difference in their community.

My daughter is working hard and wanting to work hard, she is happy, engaged and enjoying the teacher support and contact. I am so impressed and blessed that my daughter goes to Kilbreda!"

“This time has been very challenging as a parent I'm so proud at how well Kilbreda has organised the online learning for the students. The AM face-to-face learning is imperative at keeping them on track and connected to the school with the PM timetable also working well for them to complete tasks and homework. I have been singing Kilbreda's praises.”

“To all the staff at Kilbreda, just a brief note to thank you for your efforts in implementing remote learning this term. Working in a school myself, I know what a huge undertaking this has been. You have provided a clear and comprehensive plan for parents and clear communication to students. You have all risen above the challenges of this time. I appreciate your efforts and commitment to help our girls continue both their learning and their activities. The support you continue to offer to students and parents alike is also greatly valued. Stay safe and well.”

"We are so grateful to everyone who is working so hard to make online learning so successful. My daughter, Bridgette is absolutely loving her lessons. We love that every teacher has made the effort to have face-to-face time with the girls. It is a true credit to the staff and leadership at Kilbreda College. It is great to see Kilbreda’s name "up in lights" and to be recognised in this way too!" Sharon A

"Thanks to you all for working so hard to ensure our girls can get on with their learning. With my last one going through Year 12 this year we are extra grateful that she can continue her studies remotely. As a Kilbreda girl myself I’m very proud of our school and community for getting on with the job at hand and making the most of things during this tough time." - Jen G

"The girls should feel honoured to be led by such an amazing principal. Couldn’t be prouder or happier to have my daughter attend Kilbreda and know that they have each and every girl's best interest at heart." - Ros H

“I had an amazing experience here at Kilbreda College as a student (2016). I was offered the chance to study further in so many different fields - Performing Arts, Languages, Science and Social Justice via cocurricular programs. The school has a passion for social justice which changed my perspective on life forever. The community is encouraging and warm and the school was my second home. I loved all of my peers and teachers here!” Amanda H
