We are celebrating our 80 years of education this year with a week of festivities from 14 to 20 October.
On Sunday 14th the day begins with a community mass service followed by Touch Football comp and bbq lunch on Jack Bowers Oval.
Monday 15th we look back at the past and the staff come dressed in vintage clothing exploring the past decades through fashions of each era from 1930’s to 2010’s.
Tuesday 16th we will run the ‘Gate to Gate’ fun run for all students and staff. The course will cover the whole campus from the original school gates on Twigg street over to the newest entrance to the Senior School on Kate street.
On Wednesday 17th October we launch our Arts exhibition with a Drama & Poetry Slam competition and we unveil all the Artworks for the Annual Art Show.
On Thursday 18th October we host the House BBQ and students from Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster houses get together to share a meal without any rivalry! We also will bury a time capsule full of items commemorating the past 80 years of teaching and learning on site.
Friday begins with an assembly address by Mr Paul Smith, a teacher of 40 years at NJC/ATC and local identity. Students will dress in vintage clothing today from any era over the past 80 years and an award will be presented for the best costume.
The week culminates with our annual Jazz by the River spectacular where thousands gather to listen to bands and ensembles from our College and guest musos and bands. There are food stalls and bars set up along the river for all to enjoy. The night sky will come to light when Skylighter Fireworks present a wonderful fireworks extravaganza at 7pm, all launched off a barge on the Brisbane River!
It will be an amazing week.
