All our students learn Sanskrit, and this event is an opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills. Each class, even Lower First, takes part in class recitations. Individuals also compete. The Finals are judged by visiting Sanskrit scholars, and the Vice-Consul of the Consulate-General of India also attends.Â
Sanskrit is a beautiful language to learn, and also gives students a strong understanding of language, grammar, syntax and the evolution of English.
Students also learn Latin at John Colet School, either as an extracurricular club activity, or in class time if they have completed the spelling syllabus.
Spanish is also taught in class time to 6th class students. French and Mandarin are offered as extracurricular activities.
