Every great journey begins with a single step.

At Stuartholme School, we guide each girl on a path of discovery, growth and purpose. Through a transformative education with heart, we shape the girls who shape the world.

As a dynamic and leading girls’ school grounded in the Sacred Heart charism, we cultivate an environment where young women learn to lead with courage, compassion and a confidence to making a meaningful impact.

Established in 1920 through the forward-thinking vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, Stuartholme School is part of a global network of more than 200 Sacred Heart Schools across 44 countries. This international connection reflects our shared commitment to educational excellence and a global perspective.

Unique within Brisbane, Stuartholme is the only Catholic Day and Boarding School for girls from Years 5 to 12. Set across 21 hectares of natural beauty and heritage-listed architecture, Stuartholme Boarding provides a vibrant sisterhood of more than 140 boarders from rural and regional Australia, as well as overseas.

As we shape the leaders of tomorrow, we recognise the importance of the formative years in building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The introduction of Years 5 and 6 creates a seamless progression from Junior School through to Secondary School, supported by tailored programs that cultivate community, confidence and belonging.

With award winning programs and innovative and transformative teaching, our expert educators challenge students to become independent, collaborative and critical thinkers. Through a balanced and student-centred approach, we equip young women with the skills, capabilities and confidence to engage actively in their learning and thrive.

With more than 850 students, Stuartholme strikes the ideal balance of a close-knit community where every student will be known with extensive opportunities. From extension learning and leadership pathways to Sport, Music, Visual and Performing Arts, camps and retreats, more than 90 percent of students participate in one or more co-curricular activities.

Our Social Justice Program is embedded across the school and provides meaningful opportunities for students to raise awareness, advocate for change and take action. Through initiatives such as the Ponytail Project, Harmony Day activities and Red Earth Immersion, students are encouraged and supported to become active, informed and responsible global citizens.

Our global perspective extends beyond the classroom through reciprocal exchange opportunities with approximately 25 Sacred Heart Schools worldwide. These international experiences broaden horizons and enrich each student’s educational journey.

Steeped in a rich history, Stuartholme provides a contemporary and transformative education with heart for young women, preparing them to challenge a modern world and make a lasting global impact.

Arabella Robinson (Class of 2025)

“Through the halls of Stuartholme I have learnt to love, learn, grow and be the person I want to be in the world. The music we shared echoed through those years, enriching our lives and binding our memories, just as the seasons spent on the netball courts and touch football fields taught me teamwork, resilience, and pride in our community. But walking through the halls of Stuartholme I have never been alone, as no matter how far apart, we are always and forever sisters of the Sacred Heart.”

Elizabeth Wilkinson (Class of 2025)

“My time at Stuartholme has shaped me in countless ways, and I will always be incredibly grateful for the experience. The community which I have been part of, and the genuine and supportive connections I have made, has truly shaped the person I have become today, and has given me confidence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging.”

As the Principal, I am delighted to introduce you to our vibrant community and the myriad of opportunities that await your daughter here.

Stuartholme is a Years 5 to 12 Catholic girls’ school in Brisbane and we are guided by the Sacred Heart Goals, which shape our educational philosophy and inform everything we do. Our Goals are the foundation upon which our School stands – a steadfast commitment to faith, intellectual growth, social awareness, building community and personal growth.

With over 850 students, the School prides itself on being small enough for each student to be personally known, yet large enough to offer an extensive, ever-changing and dynamic range of opportunities.

As Brisbane’s only Catholic girls’ boarding school, Stuartholme’s boarding community remains in the centre of our heritage-listed main building. 150 girls live at Stuartholme and every interaction I experience is friendly and open-hearted. The boarders become sisters in the truest sense of the word. We see this bond stay just as strong years after they leave the Stuartholme gates.

Stuartholme is one of over 200 Sacred Heart Schools worldwide, an order founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1800. Sophie’s goal was to educate girls so they could have a transforming influence in society. Her educational approach remains relevant today, putting the students at the heart so they can be challenged in a supportive and affirming environment to reach their potential in all areas of development – spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical.

Our learning models are dynamic and engaging, fostering critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. With a focus on inquiry-based learning and real-world applications, we empower our students to become lifelong learners and compassionate leaders.

At Stuartholme School, we pride ourselves on an educational ethos that places the individual learning journey of each girl at the very heart of our approach. This philosophy has yielded remarkable outcomes, a testament to our belief that when we cultivate the right environment, every student can flourish. The academic achievements of our students in 2025 are a clear indication of this success, with 48% of our girls achieving an ATAR over 90% or above, and an impressive 91% scoring 80 or equivalent and above. These results are a validation of our collective effort to lift all students to their highest potential.

However, it’s important to remember that while these academic achievements are significant, they represent just one facet of what it means to be truly prepared for the challenges of the world. At Stuartholme, we are committed to nurturing every aspect of our students’ development, ensuring they are ready to make their mark on the world with confidence

Beyond the classroom, Stuartholme offers a wealth of opportunities for students to explore their passions and interests. From competitive sports teams to vibrant arts programs, drama and musical performances, there is something for every student. We are also deeply committed to social justice, providing numerous avenues for students to engage with issues that matter and make a positive impact both within and beyond our community.

In the words of one of our Sisters, Mother Janet Erskine Stuart, a “Sacred Heart education is not meant to turn the children out small and finished but seriously begun on a wide basis. They must leave us with self-knowledge, energy, and purpose.”

I warmly invite you to visit Stuartholme and discover the vibrant and compassionate community which encompasses the values of faith, learning, community, social justice, and personal growth that empowers young women to lead. Our community is a true testament of what a Stuartholme School education can provide.
